Default best head for 2.5

I have my 2.5 tmaxx running great, but too hot.

What is the best head for pulling down the temp. I will need it before summer, for sure.

Thanks, Chas

if you have the stock air filter change that first, that will bring down your temp quit a bit for only $7 bucks or so.if you already have, and you have a hole in your windshield for air go with the biggest your lhs has that'll fit your maxx

my temp wouldn't go below 310 before, now with my ofna air filter i cant get my temp to 300 if i tried

Crazy Nut Racing makes some pretty awesome heads. There like $50.

Please, for the sake of your engine, don't get a head to try and fix your lean tune. Tune it right, get the temps down and then add the head to lower them even more. Don't use the head to fix your tuning problems. The head will bring down the temps, but it wont add oil to the mixture. Do it right and fix it with the needles.

yes, very good advice.
I have tuned the eng. as the intrustions list, or pretty close.
I have had 2 & 4 cyl. engine in aircraft, but new to nitro cars.
How far off of peak rpm are you running?
To get a big jump down in temp. I am well over 1/2 a turn from peak, and a little rich on low end.
I have cut out the tailgate and front grill for more air, running 20% blue thunder,at 60* temp. and 2300msl.
At the real rich settings It switches into 2nd way too late almost not at all.

Any other ideas?

Excellent advice indeed. Buying an aftermarket head will only magnify your current problems. Keep the stock filter and consider a different fuel such as PowerMaster or Traxxas fuels, your engine will tune much easier.

I had good luck with Odonnel in my 2.5. To me it seemed to run cooler than the Traxxas fuel. If it is running that hot and you feel it is running rich you may want to look for air leaks.

yes I will try some Odonnell fuel,do you know what the oil% is in the traxxas top fuel?

I will retune and see what the new fuel will do. What was a good running temp for yours on Odonnell?

I run a hardcore muant head and O'Donnell's fuel great combination, just make sure you don't lean it out to much listen to the way the engine is performing and make sure you see a trail of blue smoke. My engine now runs at about 225-260 tank after tank. hope this helps.mike
