You can, but it will not run as well as it did with the 20% because that is more than likely what it was broken-in on. Also, you will have to rebuild it sooner as well because with a new type of fuel, the piston and the sleeve will not fit the same as it did before you changed.

What engine is it? My Fantom will only run good when it's running at least 300. IT all depends on the engine you have to how hot you need to be running. You might as well get a temp gun, it helps. You can buy one off of one the ads here at rcuniverse for about $30 or something.

please disregard spzzfry's comment. here is the correct low down.
Switching from 20% to 10% is just fine. You will need to re tune the engine slightly, by going a bit leaner on both needles. Other than that, everything is fine, and you will experience no more or less wear than previously, and no modifications or rebuild is required.
Note however, that running 20% will make the engine COOLER than 10%, not the other way around. If you are worried about temps, go with 20%, richen it up a bit more, and you will be happy. If you don't have a temp gun yet, get one ASAP - I have seen you on the forums for a while now, so you have been involved with RC long enough to warrent the purchase.

Oh, I said what I said because I switched and that's what happened to me. I guess I had a problem right before I switched or something. Sorry Fox, did not mean to lead you in the wrong direction[].

ive always heard that higher nitro content makes the engine run cooler. maybe you should try 25% if the engine can handle it. and also ive been told that you shouldnt go to a lower nitro level unless you change the piston and sleve, but maybe thats just my engine.

less nitro content also equals less power. id care more about the power if i was you. but as nitro said you should get a temp gun, i dont drive my truck without it in my pocket, plus its fun to go around measuring tempatures of everything instantly.

www.tempgun.com This may not be the most accurate temp gun, but it gives the temps close enough. The most accurate ones cost up in the $100's, this one only costs $35. I think I'm gonna get the Venom on-board temp gauge, that sound like a good plan?

Yes, a good plan. Their cheap, accurate, and give constant temp, plus you won't have to lug around a temp gun along with your starter and/or igniter.
I mounted my on-board temp guage to my roll bar just under the body, and cut out a small "window" so I can see the temp every time I drive by my feet.

Fox - Just running a higher nitro content will not lower engine temps. Actually, it will raise them, as the engine will run leaner. You need to righen up the engine when you run a higher nitro percentage. A properly tuned engine, however, will run cooler with higher nitro content.
I use a venom temp gauge on one of my cars and also have a gun. I have noticed that the venom temp gauge isnt very accurate, although it does err on the high side, so at least that is safe. I have always used a Raytek gun, but they are expensive. I recently ran it over with my full size car and purchased the Carelson Tuning version. It has proved flawless, is garunteed forever, and was about 25.00 cheaper - about 65.00

Nitroaddict-what do you mean with the err? Does that mean it showed error whenever it hit the highs? Also, do you have a link or anything to the Carelson stuff?

I mean that it didnt read accuratly, but when it was off, it was off high. rather that than reading a temp an saying it was lower than it was. You can get the Carleson Tuning version at Towerhobbies.

RE: I need help with the fuel in the Tmaxx!!!!!!!!!!.
to throw in my 2 cents..
I went to Radio shack and bought the little hand held one (was only 25 bucks at the time). Works like a champ!
My bro wanted one and when I went back they were 49 bucks.
Tower sells the duratrax handheld one:
for $24.99. Unless you bash once a year I'd say it is one of the first things to purchase. Personally I avoid the in car ones, as I hear they aren't as accurate (wire around the head vs pointing at the glow plug).

hurry up and buy one

The inaccuracy of the on-board ones may very well be. But you should only use temp as a guide in tuning, and not as the whole. You should tune for performance, and use the temp to notice any changes that you've made. In that case, the on-boards are just as effective as the hand-helds, and you'll have less to carry.
