New T-Maxx-- Any part recommendations ?
I just ordered a T-Maxx, and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of part replacements/upgrades that they would have done right when they got theirs.
Thanks[sm=thumbup.gif]

Ya, don't spend a dime on performance stuff yet.
First and foremost-
- Front and rear aluminum skids, and RPM skid plates (goes over aluminum skids).
- failsafe
- throttle return spring
- 6V Rx battery & charger
- Temp gun
That should be good to get you started. After a while, I would personally recommend-
A pull starter (remove ez start)
Trinity springs

I personally had a problem with reliability. The connectors, the one actually mounted on the Maxx, motor malfunctioning, and more. After 3 repairs I shelved the EZ start.
However, the EZ start was AWESOME to learn with. I just think that when you get comfortable with the Maxx and the Motor, the pull start is more reliable (and you don't have to haul the ez start around).

By the time you spend money on both the aluminum skid plates and RPM skid covers, you might as well have just bought titanium skid plates. I don't recommend aluminum skid plates to anyone. Pony-up the extra few bucks and do yourself a favor by buying the titanium skid plates. Your Tmaxx and bulkheads will thank you.

Thanks for the tips !! The titanium skip plates are on order now
Also, how about the high-torque servo for steering ? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXF84&P=M Anyone recommend getting that right away ?
EDIT: Just double checked the specs on the Traxxas web-site and saw it comes with the high torque server.

Mitch, referring to the servo, you will find that many owners have upgraded their stock steering servo on their MAXX, to a nice high-torque unit. I personally was using an Airtronics 94357 servo, but that's a little over $100. I know a lot of users on here prefer the Hitec servos, which are inexpenesive, powerful, and reliable. I'm not sure which model people are using, so maybe some others can respond with their higher torque servos they use?

Yeah, once I get into a hobby I go all out I'm also building my 2nd R/C aircraft right now too, as my first one left a smoking crater in the grass.
