The piggybacks don't really do anything but look cool. If thats what you want, buy them. Otherwise, I would recommend the integy shocks w/o piggybacks. Its not that much of a savings, but if you want to save $20-30 the piggybacks aren't worth it.

RE: Replacement Shock Recommendations ?
The AE FT Maxx shock set is a killer deal and the shocks work great. Use the stock traxxas (red) springs and it's a killer combo.
Another way to go is buy 2 packs of MIP shiny maxx shock bodies, 8 MIP TiN coated shafts, and 2 packs of MIP blue seals. Simply replace the stock traxxas shock parts with these parts and you also have a very nice set of shocks. My current maxx has the MIP shock treatment and I don't know if it's the metal bodies or what, but i have yet to have a plastic shock cap pull off.
If you really want the best handling maxx you can get, it takes a bit of work, but the results are well worth the effort. here's what you will need.
4 sets of GS medium length Pro shocks
2 sets of GS Vision Pro special shock springs
2 sets of GS medium length special shock springs
1 Pack of GS 6mm captured ball ends
4 Lunsford Punisher turnbuckles 1.875" long
Build the shocks and drill the front piston holes with #53 bit and the rear piston holes with a #55. Shock oil weights will depend on how much your truck weighs. On a 6.5 pound race truck with this setup oils are 45 rear and 40 front. Use the short and medium springs to set up a progressive spring rate that works for you.
Mount these 4 shocks on the outside of your maxx shock towers.
Build 4 braces from the 6 mm ball ends and Lunsford turnbuckles.
Install these on the inside of your towers with the top mounted where the inside shocks mount and the bottom mounted in the rear of the lower shock tower to bulkhead mounting hole.
The GS medium shocks are a shade longer than stock maxx shocks and a perfect fit that does not require any internal or external limiters to work.

[link=http://www.crispycrittershobbyshop.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=16234&cat=0&page=]www.crispycrittershobbyshop.com[/link] This looks to be a real nice set of shocks. (I hope the link works) If not it is www.crispycritterhobbyshop, and it is the racer X package. I got a set of X-Factor shocks (stock) for my t-maxx and I only have one on each corner. I love them they are a great shock. You can find them on ebay for very little $.

Thank you and everyone else for the suggestions. I had alot of fun running my T-Maxx at a park Easter Sunday. I had over 20 kids surrounding me, all in awe over my T-Maxx.

When you say convert what do you mean? Get the extended arms ? I actually like the more compact look, if I get the proline 40 tires and rims would they fit since I have an original T-Maxx ?
