CHANGED FUEL IN 3.3 T-MAXX THIS WAS WEIRD?!
I am running HPI Power Fuel in my HPI RS4 road car, and Blue Thunder in my T-Maxx 3.3. Both 20%. Ran out of Blue Thunder in my Maxx and tried a tank of the POwer Fuel in it. The truck had the highest idle I ever seen, very sluggish, sputtered through the run, and after a couple minutes, got to about 300 degrees! Needless to say, I shut it off. Went to my LHS and got some Blue Thunder again for the truck. Runs great again. Moral of the story, if you never knew, I can tell you brands of certain fuels DO, make a difference.

My buddy just got a T-Maxx and I gave him a tank of my gas. (Can't remember what brand...) but the next day he went and got some traxxas fuel and the truck acted much the same way as yours with the switch. Both were 20%. Now he doesn't want to use the Traxxas and I heard not to put it in my lst2.
Guess I'll use it to start a camp fire...

RE: CHANGED FUEL IN 3.3 T-MAXX THIS WAS WEIRD?!
I received a polite warning in the Traxxas Site for posting questions and comment about their fuel. One Thread was closed dfown. Seems they have the best fuel for their engines and that should be the end of any fuel discussion for thier engines.
I was only trying to obtain comments on the lube percent and mentioned that it appeared to be approx. 13% from my testing. I did also mention that I had better luck with other fuels anf prefered to run a fuel which the manufacture listed percentage of ingredents in.
Yes the fuel's ingredents can have a great effect on how hot an engine runs. They can also have a major impact on how long it lives. Some fuel manufactures (blenders) list percentage by volum and some by weight which is another mind game they play. There are many synthenic lubications and every fuel manufacture has the very best which provides the least amount of friction / wear. Castro is not used nearly as much these days as in the past. Todays Castro is not nearly as good as it was years ago and 2% is the max. recomended by top fuel experts.
Traxxas Top Fuel is produced by Powermaster,Blue Thunder is produced by Morgan Fuel who also produces Sidewinder,Backyard Basher and several other car / truck fuels.

RE: CHANGED FUEL IN 3.3 T-MAXX THIS WAS WEIRD?!
I've got a question, I went to my local hobby shop to get some fuel for my T-MAXX and he gave a "cool power" fuel 15% Nitro. He claimed it is for cars but I only know it as fuel for helis and planes. It runs great in my T-MAXX but I'm not sure if it is for cars. Does anybody know this fuel? It is manufactured by Morganfuels.

As stated, different fuels make a big difference in how an engine runs and lasts.
I've had good luck with the Traxxas Top Fuel and really bad luck with Blue Thunder - I'll never buy it again. My current favorite is O'Donnells 20%. It's running better in all my vehicles than anything I've run before.

Cool Power is manufacture by Morgan fuel however it is a 100% synthic lube fuel for aircraft. Their car / truck fuels are Sidewinder and Backyard basher.

everydayflyer, thats exactly what I thought. Can I use it in my T-MAXX or will the fuel cause any problems to the engine? If it is so, I will bring it back to the LHS and tell that guy in there some things.[sm=devious.gif]. The funny thing is that he asked me if I wanted fuel for cars or airplane!!

I run their 20% Nitro Cool Power Heli in my 3.3 and it does extremely well however I feel that inexperienced tuners are better off with a fuel which contains some Castro oil in the lube. Thier Omega fuel has a synthic / castro benlded lube.
If you visit their site you will see that they have many blends available. It is not as simple as just 20% Nitro or 30% Nitro. There are many car / truchk fuel which are all synthic but I do not run them because most have a very low percentage of lube. IMo,13% or less all synthenic lube is great for producing a lot of power but also great for damaging an engine if it is ran lean.

You suggest I should get the fuel back to the dealer? It's the only one from Morgan fuels he has. I asked him and he doesn't change it. Can I use the rest of it in my T-MAXX without damaging the engine or should I use it for the barbecue??

If you want me to tell you what fuel to use then you are out of luck. I stated that I run thier 20% Cool Power Heli in my 3.3 and it does great. I also pointed out that it is all synthenic lube.It has a higher percentage of lube than most other car / truck fuels.
I provided their website link where they list all of their blends for their different lines.
They three different line of car / truck fuels and one of these is available in ten different blends. That is a total of 12 diffents car/truck fuel available from them under their name.
Some would ask that if they make 12 different truck fuels then why would anyone run their aircraft fuel in a truck?

The only thing I would like to know is if I can use the rest of the fuel I have in my T-MAXX or will it damage the engine? I know what fuel to use after that. I've read the website you gave me and thank you for that. It stays in there that it is for aircrafts so I don't know if it will damage my engine. Thanks

It should not damage your engine. It is an all synth. lube fuel and has a higher lube content than most truck fuels. AS stated I run their 20% Heli Cool Power in my 3.3 and love it. The only real difference between their Cool Power airplane fuel and thier heli fuel is tat the heli has more anti foaming agents and addatives to produce a heavier visual smoke trail.and a slight difference in lube percentages depending on the Nitro content.
