RE: Winter Driving
yes you can i just drove a tank through my t-maxx 2 min ago, i used a hair dryer to heat up the heat sink then i started it out in the sun i let it sit for about 30 seconds. then i held it up and let it warm up alittle, then i drove it. it needed to be retuned but it never died and it was poppin wheelies. the only problem is it wouldnt shift into second i think it was because of the idle needle.

Comical ...
However, back to the question at hand ...
You want to balloon your electronics before going out in the snow to keep water out.
As far as wrecking, that's all up to you!!

RE: Winter Driving
I got my tmaxx last february, and I broke a lot of a-arms, bulkeads, etc., because the plastic gets brittle in the cold. But if you don't do anything too insane, you should be ok.

RE: Winter Driving
Thanks for the comments! I haven't been able to test these chains yet because where I live, it only snows every 15 years, but I do go up to the Reno/Lake Tahoe area every winter. I did make the chains myself, and its just chain I bought at Wal-Mart. I used 16 links of #16 bronze plated chain for the chain that forms the circle, and 15 lengths of 6 links each of #14 chain for the chain that goes across the tire. I only used 5 lengths of chain going across the tire last year, and within 10 seconds of driving, the tires turned into iced doughnuts (pun intended) so I hope these might work a little better on the packed powder and ice.

Yea you can but you need to water proof and do proper procedures with heating and such. Only thing is if the fuel starts to gel..... I think I heard about this stuff somewhere, maybe here: http://www.traxxas.com/support/index...&cat=88&id=296

On my basher I have my Rx balooned, steering & throttle servos dipped in PlastiDip, and Rx battery dipped also. I'm ready for some snow action in a few days in New Mexico [8D]

RE: Winter Driving
Same here, just watch the outside or ambient temps because if that fuel starts to gel then I have no idea what would happen. I plan on running this weekend, should be cold as heck out lol.

RE: Winter Driving
Hmm never thought about the fuel. I'm bringing alum. foil for sure though for around the motor head. I'll probably be running it in temps like 20-30 degrees, so nothing super super cold. The lows in this area are around 3-6 degrees!! Thats probably only late at night though. I don't think Texan thermometers even go that low!

RE: Winter Driving
whats the chain hanging in the front fenderwell? i'm not sure about fuel gelling. i've flown nitro planes when it was pretty cold and never had a problem. but i could be wrong.
