joedodge, I'm in the same boat, thought I was the only old fart "playing" with toys, turns out we are in good company. 
You are right about being able to afford the toys now, when I was growing up there wasn't any 'extras' to be had. I figure that is what
makes some of us want to make our own stuff. Now I can buy better stuff than I ever dreamed of owning when I was a Kid.
Now to find Honda Mini-Trail fifty in excellent shape............

35 ,true it is more fun with cash ,me and my bud just started agn i have been back for about 4 months and have a xxxnt a xxxnt built from scratch and a revo platmum from scratch modded to the hilt .18tz in the xxxnt .26 red dot in the revo and rrp gears and 3pk with coreless servos in bolth and one stock xxxnt rtr 2 .

Well, I don't see my post, but I may have posted earlier, but I will do it again for kicks and giggles; I am 31, been into the hobby grade r/c vehicle scene for about 6 1/2 years now approx. and like at least one of the others already posted and mentioned; it makes me feel somewhat younger as well being into the r/c hobby.....and the way I see it....heck!!....ya might as well spend the money on something....u certainly can't take it "with you" when u go.....

39 here. Been into the trucks off and on for about 6 or 7 years now I guess. I've been flying planes for 4 or 5 as well and have even tried the helis a couple of times. If it's RC I like it, atleast more than my wife. As long as she thinks everything is only 200.00 I'm ok. [X(]

31....loved monster trucks as a kid. Walked into a 7/11 in 1989 and saw RC Car Action Monster Truck special, bought it more for the "monster truck" factor, read that thing pretty much everyday for one straight year. Got a blackfoot for my 13th birthday, had fun with that for a couple years and then pretty much dropped out of the hobby for 15 years. Picked up a stampede last year that I haven't used much, and will probably get more into the hobby next year with a Savage XL

The Blackfoot!! I forgot about that one, I had it around 12 years ago give or take I belive. Thats was my first truck and was battery powered.

for starters, im almost 21. Right on! i built up my t-maxx so now it doesnt really ever break. I kinda get bored when i bring it home from the gravel pit with nothing to fix or troubleshoot. Ive got a Nitro Rustler and a E-maxx also, the E-maxx is giving me some trouble so now i get to try and fix it! I love this hobby

I guess I'm an old dog here at 59. Never had an rc until about a year and a half ago. I always liked them but never had the time or money to play. Still have trouble finding both but I now have 5 nitro vehicles. A 1/10 buggy (Redcat), my first (wife bought it for me), then a Schumacher Havoc, a Duratrax Warhead EVO and the 2 more Warheads. They all run great. This stuff is addictive. The last one I bought, I told my wife that I'll sell one of the Warheads, that's hard to do. I'm thinking about it now because if I can sell one or two, I'll start thinking about getting a Traxxas Slayer. I've got my son in laws interested and they both have rc trucks now and a few guys at work. I even got an air brush and have started painting bodies, it's fun for when it's too cold to run. My wife says I'll never grow up! She's right, thank goodness! I want to thank all of you on these forums who contribute and help us all out!
