U also have to make sure though; that neck part of the filter will fit the air intake for the the 3.3 carb. I do know that motor saver makes a filter for the 3.3, as I have one on mine and so far so good....

Get the HPI filter over the motor saver. I have both and I like the HPI one better. The neck with the hpi one will rub on the spur with a smallblock but you can glue the stock neck on it and all is well.

I have never had any problems with the MotorSaver air filter, some people have though. I actually ran a pre-filter over my MotorSaver, maybe that had something to do with it.

I run the motor saver on my revo with the prefilter and don't have any issues but the savage filter just seems better quality IMO.

the deal with K&N is that some people hate them because they think that they don't filter as well. others say they're fine. my friend has one and he loves it.

i would go with the motor saver. i have one and it's great!

I used a 1/8 scale filter on the stock neck.

K&N filters are not designed to work like 1/8scale oiled filters are.. last I checked nitro engines didn't have an oil filter.

Save your self some money and just an 1/8 scale filter, The K&N does not let the motor suck more air in, and if it did it would be a sign of how much of the air its not filtering, and you would just have to run it richer which means less fuel milage.

Now if you want to put your truck in a glass display, I guess they look cool

Easy man. Why the name calling?
I have had no isues with the stock neck and filter setup. Mine fits very tight and I have seen no reason to use a zip either. I bash fairly hard too.

Do you understand the theory of how a K&N filter works ? The theory is all about surface area..The more surface area the filter has the more air it lets in..I dont know if you use one on your real car or not but you can tell a performance increase over a stock type (smooth) filter. Their are a lot of different companies that make performance filters that use the same technology..Just because a fliter flows more air does not mean it fliters less..

So the K&N would improve power? how does anyone have the website for them too?

A little air fliter 101..
Typical Foam Air Filter
Lack of surface area hinders air flow and dirt holding capacity. Open cell foam usually saturated with oil.
Dirt builds on outside and blocks the openings.
Higher vacuum pressures distort the cells drawing dirt deeper into the filter.
Airflow is reduced as cells become blocked.
Turbulent filtered air.
The K&N air filter is somewhat more complex. The unique design features multiple layers of oiled cotton fabric which captures the airborne dirt particles. These dirt particles cling to the fibers of the filter and actually become part of the filtering media. This process, known as depth loading, allows the K&N air filter to retain significantly more dirt per square inch than a paper filter. The cotton fabric is sandwiched between pleated aluminum screen. Pleating increases surface area which in turn prolongs service intervals. Pleating exposes substantially more surface area compared to a flat element like foam.

The dirt particles collected on the surface of a K&N element have little effect on air flow during much of its service life because there are no small holes to clog. Particles are stopped by layers of crisscrossed cotton fibers and held in suspension by the oil. As the filter begins to collect debris, an additional form of filter action begins to take place because air must first pass through the dirt particles trapped on the surface. That means a K&N air filter continues to exhibit high air flow throughout the life of the filter while it is accumulating dirt. At the same time, the air flow for an average foam air filter can decrease dramatically as the foam element gets dirty. So as dirt accumulates, the performance advantages of a K&N air filter can increase! Tests performed by an independent laboratory commonly known as the Frazier Permeability Test have shown that the Medium used in K&N air filters flows more than 300% more air than foam air filter medium when compared on a square inch per square inch basis. A Square inch comparison is not directly proportional to the increase you can expect from installing a K&N air filter in replacement of a foam air filter due to the effect of such things as filter size, number and depth of pleats. However, you can be assured a K&N air filter will provide dramatically more air flow which can enhance engine performance.
