Nitro for nine year old
It appears as since getting MY Revo back in February, the nitro bug has bit my son. Any thoughts or opinions on the following (1) Duratrax Nitro Evader (2) HPI Firestorm 10T or (3) Traxxas Nitro Sport. I want to keep it at a reasonable price-point of about $250 or less. Additional suggestions would also be welcome!

The duratrax evader is suppose to be a really good beginner nitro vehicle from what I have heard. Ive heard that its very easy to tune, and that parts are usually pretty widely available for it....Thats all I know since Ive never owned one, but do have frequent contact with a manager of a lhs who knows his stuff....hope this at least helps for starters but im sure other people will add more...[8D]

The rear portion of the sport is aluminum and the front portion is composite. It usually breaks right where they meet and strip the gears out of the steering servo[X(][&o]

I would go with the Evader Thats what i started with.
wish I never sold it.
And the best thing is if he learns how to drive on a 2wd car 4wd car would be a breeze in the near future.

Wouldn't it be better if i helped with this thread anyway? Considering his son is about my age.
Edit: Well if you're looking for a 1:10 truck, can't beat the RC10GT's. Fun as HECK! To drive.

Not that I have experience from any of the above vehicles, but I'd wager the Duratrax would be a good investment. I see evader parts all over, but not so much with the other two. And doesn't Duratrax have that 1 year warranty thing on plastic parts?
Someone above mentioned RC10GT. I think the RTR of that vehicle is a hair under $300 but I'd wager it's quality is leaps and bounds above the other three.

USMCREVO I suggest a Nitro Stampede I work in a Hobby Shop part time and sell many of these to 1st timers it has a liitle more ground clerance should be able to go "most" of the places your Revo will go, it sells most places for 250$-260$. Don't get the Nitro Sport and the Nitro Evader has alot of problems with the Diffs. If you want a stadium truck get a Nitro Rustler they sell for about the same as the Stampede.

RE: Nitro for nine year old
Thanks guys! I've narrowed it down to the Stampede. I was actually considering that before I got the Revo. Now I have an excuse to have both! I may just go with the Traxxas juggernaut (parts support at the LHS). Another Revo would be too costly, even though he really liked thrashing mine! Now where is that Economic Stimulus Check...

From what I hear, the chaos diffs are trash and there is no upgrade for them. I know because I was going to buy a chaos and researched it. They say that the chaos isn't even worth $90 because it has so many problems.[X(]
I still think the Nitro Stampede would be the best for him. Parts are fairly cheap, it is fast, and it is super easy to tune because it has the pro.15 engine.

???neverheard of it.............or are you talking about the stampede?
may just go with the Traxxas juggernaut
Sorry, I used the term "Traxxas Juggernaut" referring to the corporate giant service, support, parts, etc. I wasn't reffering to a particular 'juggernaut' model. Sorry for the confusion.
