How does it look? (PICS!)
Well, I just finished putting my Maxx back together. Over the cold season here in MO, I added some goodies so that I can get it running again soon. I had an OS 18TM in it before, but that finally gave out in the fall after like 6-8 gallons of fuel. Over the winter I have added:
OS 18TZ (with crankshaft and backplate from OS18TM)
Forward Only transmission
New venom rec. pack
New battery box with charge jack
New wiring harness with charge lead
New HS-645MG servo
New HS-475HB servo (throttle/brake)
New body posts
New front Diff
New Duratrax failsafe
New Traxxas Center CVDs
New Traxxas axle CVDs
New Kimbrough gas car servo saver (black)
5x8mm bearings in steering and throttle bellcrank
New Traxxas rubber sealed bearings in knuckles (old ones were gritty)
Mostly stainless hardware all around
I am pretty happy with the results, all I need is some fuel!

Why cutout the sealed radio box for the failsafe? You can usually set em and forget em. Actually, did you piece a clear piece of plastic over the failsafe? It looks like you might have, in which case that's cool. Otherwise I would be worried about dirt and water getting into the receiver and failsafe. Looks good.

There would have already been a hole there if it was the 3.3 for the opti drive, which he does not have anymore because he did the FOC...

ditch the THS header and get an OS header...it works way better with that pipe.....ditch the stock tires they are just terrible and once you try other tires you will see what I mean. Make sure you shrink tube the CVD's or the pins will fall out. Did you shim the diff when it was out? if not do it and the diff will last way longer. Try and stay away from the stainless hardware it is way too soft for our applications....The stainless screws will strip....what you want is the black hardened hardware you get from any fastener company....I go in with a list right out of the manual and a full set of Tmaxx screws costs me 6 bux. Most importantly put a throttle return spring on in addition to the failsafe....I've never been able to get the little failsafes to work properly.

RE: How does it look? (PICS!)
okay. I did just post these on the Traxxas forums too.
Dale Gribble: I did use a clear pice of plastic on there to cover the rec. box hole. I then used the 3M clear mounting tape on it so I could still see the failsafe.
RCCanuck: 1. The traxxas CVDs are self capturing, they have a metal ring around the pin. 2. Stainless works fine for me. I don't do any serious bashing or racing, so I don't care. 3. The OS header does not work with that pipe. 4. If you look, there is already a throttle return spring attached to the transmission... 5. Cosidering I just replaced almost $200 in parts and dropped in a brand new $120 engine, I dont have another $100 to buy a new set of tires.
thanks for the + comments guys!
