I think the newer 3.3 maxxes might turn the spur when rolling backwards, but the older 2.5 maxxes have a pawl and bell system for forward and reverse shifting that allows you to roll the truck either direction without the spur gear turning 9in the absence of a FOC or no-buck conversion).

"happy now???" what's up with that? in your 1st post you were talking about part#5393 and im just telling you that there's no 5393 on the 2.5.yes your right it has owb. i did not tell you that that's not the problem.

i found the problem.
it was the OWB. its shot.
and the shaft(#4993) is worn out.
