RE: Traxxas Summit
You lucky dog. Getting a Summit for your first RC. And you hillbilly putting balls on your truck LMAO. but there is A LOT of upgrades for that truck. and really far down the line you can get a brushless setup for it and then you could get 50+ with that bad boyhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

RE: Traxxas Summit
Yeah i live in alabama so i had to put nuts on it. Its a beast tho it deserves a pair! Lol

RE: Traxxas Summit
I just got my Summit. It will be brushless very soon. I can't wait to give it a drive.

RE: Traxxas Summit
If you go brushless, do it right and put a sensored setup in it.
Otherwise, you're going to kill what makes this truck great. The best part of this truck is it's low speed abilities. Put a BL setup in it and you'll have to be very careful about locking the diffs. The Summit is one of the few trucks left that really benefits from keeping a brushed setup in it. Plus, you no longer have a waterproof truck if you go brushless. Something else to consider, depending on how you use it. |
RE: Traxxas Summit
He's getting the hobbywing xerun setup LaTuFu. I am getting the xerun also for my E-revo buildhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...eeth_smile.gif

RE: Traxxas Summit
LOL mine is going to be too
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
Im leaving mine stock...i love low gear and love to run it off in a creek. I dont see a need in doing anything else to it.
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
in reality good for you. cause you can sink a TON of money into them if wanted
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
Lol yeah ive noticed...it does everything i want it to do stock. The only thing im thinking of doing is upgrading to lipos.
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
yeah lipos are nice
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
We need a summit thread around here. I did some searching and it seems the summit thread that was on RCU was shut down a while ago due to people bickering. Surely there are enough fans of this truck around here to give it another go. If there is a more recent active summit thread that I have missed could someone point me in its direction.

ORIGINAL: Summit is Beast!!! Lol yeah ive noticed...it does everything i want it to do stock. The only thing im thinking of doing is upgrading to lipos. I have a pair of the 8200s, and Iget 35-45 minutes of hard bashing time out of them in my Revo. I have yet to hit LVC with them in my Summit. Iusually end up getting bored or needing to leave before the batteries run down on me. Kenny...this thread is as good as any for the Summit discussion, as far as I am concerned. Summit..get rid of the balls and get the roof rack lights! :D |
RE: Traxxas Summit
There is a group of people taking the summit body off and adding a 1970's Tonka metal jeep body. Then they drive their TonkaSummits with virtual reality goggles with FPV gear.

Sounds good to me....im not getting rid of my dirty danglers!!!! Wow two hours of run time that would be great! Ill have to look into those.
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
I saw the trencher tires and love them. Does any1 have them on their summit and would i have to upgrade my steering servos or would the stock 1s do the job?
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
I was the first to post on the Summit thread Wooo Hoooo. And being this is the Summit thread here's a video of an awesome Summit for all to enjoywww.youtube.com/watch

RE: Traxxas Summit
Haven't tried the trenchers but proline make good tires. The stock servos will do the job (IMO they are a bit weak) but if you were thinking of upgrading the new hitec waterproof servos look pretty good. They are pretty new to the market and I haven't heard much about them but I would love to get my hands on a couple, as far as I know they are the only aftermarket waterproof servo available and you can't go wrong with hitec.
New Hitec waterproof servo HS5646WP http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBJCE&P=7 |
RE: Traxxas Summit
That servo is now in my wish list at towerhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...eeth_smile.gif
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
Yeah i looked at them also...$160 they better be great. Ive noticed the stock servos on my summit are kinda weak so maybe ill ask for those for my bday. Lets see some pics of yalls summits. O and pyro it wouldnt let me load that utube vid for some reason.

ORIGINAL: pyromatic177 That servo is now in my wish list at tower [img][/img] If you do get them don't forget to get [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHGB3&P=Z]these[/link], the stock horns don't fit hitec. Hey Beast what servos you looking at? The ones I linked are $55 a piece. |
RE: Traxxas Summit
those servos you sent me have those horns on it
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
Thats how it starts......First you get the truck then u say ur gonna leave it as is. Slowly but surely little upgrades tend to find there way onto the truck. LOLOL.
Enjoy the truck. |
RE: Traxxas Summit
LOL that's so true

RE: Traxxas Summit
I run the Trencher X's on my Summit. Pretty much the same size as the stock Canyons. Awesome wheel/tire combo for the Summit, IMO. They are shorter and wider than the original Trencher.
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...2-03104409.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...2-03104319.jpg As for the HiTec waterproof servo, it looks like its okay, but it's not that much bigger than the stock Traxxas waterproof servo. You'll still have to run a pair of them to have enough power for the wheels. They only have ~157 oz. of torque @6v. Even if you went the external BEC route and got 7.4v going, you're only boosting it to 179 oz. Nothing wrong with running a pair of them, but if you're looking to run a single servo setup, this one isn't a candidate, imo. |
RE: Traxxas Summit
i need a good single servo. what's a good one
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
I have the HiTec 7955TG or 5995TG on my wish list. The Savox 1256 is not quite as beefy as those two, but still has more torque than the stock dual setup.

Where did u get ures and how much are they? Kenny I clicked the link u sent and it was the first ones one the page i just assumed those where the ones u were talking about...$55 sounds much better!</div>
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
You can get them from Tower Hobbies, or you can order them direct from ProLine. When I ordered them back in November ProLine had a coupon code good for 15% off, so I picked them up for around $75 shipped.
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
Ok thanks ive def got to pick up some of those. And u have the stock servos on there and the do fine right.
|
RE: Traxxas Summit
Just keep in mind that with more weight comes more problems when you slap on some big ole wheels and tires like that. If I am running a basher, I usually like a lighter weight solution. I put this pic in my thread, but I am running wheels/tires from a Savage Flux. They are a little shorter and more narrow than the stockers. They are also lighter.

Another Summit owner here, one is stock and another one Iam gradually building and customizing, these really are amazing machines. So far on the mod Ihave HPP 17mm hexes, aluminum diff carrier to help shore up the diff for brushless, double orange springs, 80kshock oil,and a few aluminum parts to help get weight over the wheels for crawling. Still on the fence on wheather to go brushed or brushless and amlooking to add a custom body, pro line trenchersand dye the chassis black to finish it off. Lots of fun!
