Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
Are there any aftermarket exhaust headers or modifications that can be done in order to keep from breaking these $20 cheap pot metal pile of trash exhaust headers? I've followed Traxxas's recommendations on installing it correctly with a nice gap between the header and the pipe but the design itself seems very flawed to me. Many times the pipe is what takes the abuse in a flip over, seeing how it sits all the way out above the A-arm. This is my second Revo and I swore to never have another. LOL But this Revo 3.3 was basically given to me. Any helpful suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
You could buy a side pipe and have that stick out of the side If you like. There a couple braces that help keep the shock tower from bending and hitting the pipe, which causes it to bend the header. I guess you have landed on it tail a couple times then huh..;)
Edit: Forgot to list the brace. [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6233303/anchors_6252278/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#6252278]clicky[/link] [link=http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?session_id=gokgvadlqctcblcsaepkfejjricbpn la&part_id=2419]clicky[/link] |
RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
Hey thanks for the info. Do you think the Tekno wing itself will help protect the pipe and header?
|
RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
^^^^^ well in a way it does kinda. if you land on the engine head down, then yes it will protect it. but if your coming of a jump, and land backwards, the wing will bend the body post which will bend the pipe;) so like nitrovenom said, buy the wing mount and attach a brace. i did it and its extremely rigid on mine.

RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
It will help protect the head for the most part. The wing mount bolts onto the shock tower, which is what hits the exhaust and causes it to bend. So every time you land on the wing it will be just as bad as without it if not worse. With the first mod listed it should stop the shock tower from flexing so much.
A good exhaust upgrade would be the THS hard coated pipe. [link=http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info.php?cPath=151_39_65&products_id=512]clicky[/link] |
RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
maybe some who try and re-route the pipe hangar so its not on the body post? just a thought

RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
^^^ Danju did that also and it helped as long as you had a one peice exhaust system and not one held together by zip-ties. Maybe he'll chime in and show us some pics if he still has them.

RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
lol okay heres my setup:
first pic shows the exhuast hangar and homemade brace...the hangar is attached to the right screw that holds the whole body post to the chassis. http://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/ga.../lg-117789.jpg better pic: image]http://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/gallery/photos/321483/lg-117786.jpg[/img] http://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/ga.../lg-117790.jpg |

ORIGINAL: sunco1 maybe some who try and re-route the pipe hangar so its not on the body post? just a thought WORD. Frankly I dont understand what the shock tower has to do with the pipe hanger. Had a few mishaps from that![:@] |
RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
Danju: Where did you attach that "push-rod"? (in the chassis)

RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
oh well, i jsut remember this [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6576593/anchors_6589622/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#6589622]THREAD[/link]
also, AiRevo's mod is very helpful..it strengthends the mount even further. |
RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
hopefully the pics are self explanatory:D

Zero distortion sir! :D |
RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
lol thanks...and this may help: when screwing on the nut under the chassis, it would be helpful to have a nother hand:D

1 Attachment(s)
i got tired of bending the baby-butt-soft traxxas big block headers so i milled my own 90 degree header.
|
RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
i hate it too...i didnt seem to have any problems once i switched to a spring instead of the screws...the screws are such a dumb idea.

RE: Revo Exhaust Design Pathetic.......
Hey 89Ram- I think it's fantastic that you milled your own header- It's innovation and creative problem solving that seperates us from other mammals-such as golfers. I assume you bored the inside of the header at a 90 deg. angle, but did you radius the corner? How's the performance? Just curious since your header is substantially shorter than any other Revo headers I've seen. Keep up the good work!
Oh yeah- one other thing- I see you're running a MGT pipe on your Picco- can you do me a favor and PM me with the dimensions of the pipe? I ordered one for my Picco powered TMaxx and I think it's for for the MGT 4.6 and it's bigger than the older MGT pipes. I'm curious as to the length, diameter and stinger location. Thanks in advance. |
