What is this?
1 Attachment(s)
I got these cheep and thought they were traxas but there not. The one has a traxas motor in it but that's all. It's supposed to run but I'm out of batteries for the receiver to test it out. I need to know what they are so I can get parts to fix them up.
Thanks Shawn |
RE: What is this?
looks kinda like an old rustler

RE: What is this?

RE: What is this?
I was told from the LHS they were Losi but I couldn't find any info on them. Yes I got them cheep.

RE: What is this?
what ever they are, they are OLD, real old.

RE: What is this?
one is missing a filter one is missing a pipe.
|
RE: What is this?
hmmmm maximum mt....from duratrax...its an ANCIENT car man...
|
RE: What is this?
back tires are on backwards lol
|
RE: What is this?
The one with out the filter has one but I took it off to clean. It uses Traxas style drive shafts if that helps.
Duratrax Maximum mt. Thanks. Do you know if anyone still makes parts? Shawn |
RE: What is this?
Googled "Duratrax Maximum mt) and found some parts and manuals. They aren't Duratrax Maximum mts. But thanks for trying.
Ya I noticed the back tires too. Hay the rim on the back are RPMs. Shawn |
RE: What is this?
hmmmm are you really really sure? it looks like to me...well w/e...whatever it is, its oldy moldy stuff buddy...good luck finding it

RE: What is this?
looks like a bunch of nitro stampede parts on a custom chassis.
|
RE: What is this?
I was thinking the same as Nighthawk.... That looks like a 'Pede tranny and fuel tank.
|
RE: What is this?
Looks like a pede on a customer chassis to me.

RE: What is this?
Now you know the first three picks are the same truck. the forth is a parts rig I got at the same time. I think these are production chassis. Both have the same chassis too. I think the shock towers are after market and look to be carbon-fiber or something. I don't believe the shocks are factory either. Now if this helps the flywheel and clutch bell are turned around backwards and the pinion is next to the engine. The brake you can see in the forth pic and is a curved piece of plastic that is supposed to stop the clutch bell. The tank does look like a nitro stampede tank from the pic that "-EXTRA- " posted but nothing else.
Thanks for the input. Shawn |
RE: What is this?
i think it looks like a custom chassis because the screws in the front aren't sanded down and it looks very plain. just like someone got sheet metal and made one. the reciever, tank, and engine, and transmission also look from a stampede. i'd say it's a stampede with a custom chassis and different wheels, shocks, and towers

RE: What is this?
well it also looks like a trx.15 engine and a stampede tranny. maybe it's just a mix of different parts

Shawn i see what you mean by the flywheel and CB are on backwards...the second pic shows that...its a weird design lol...and you said instead of a brake disk, the brakes are on the CB???? thats really odd lol... w/e it is, its either custom made with parts from like 20 other cars, or its one far off brand car lol |
RE: What is this?
Now remember my hobby shop that's been around nearly 30 years, did say it looked like a Losi but he did say too that it was a frankinstine truck. I'm going to tear the parts truck apart tonight. I'll see if I find any writing or anything when I do. Then I'll take pics. I'll leave the one with tires alone for now because It's supposed to run. I have a starter for the trx.15 thats on it if it don't need anything els. I do know the tank needs to be sealed up. It has a crack in it and it leaks. He said he had it running and I believe it because there was fuel in the tank and that's how I found out it leaks. I'll post more picks in the morning of the parts and such.

RE: What is this?
Didn't feel like reading the whole entire thread but the two trucks are the Traxxas Nitro Stampede, a 1/10th monster truck no longer produced by Traxxas.
Nice find! |
RE: What is this?
Uhhh as far as I know traxxas DOES still produce the n-pede seeing as they came out with a new n-pede not to long ago......

RE: What is this?
WOW..... 29 post and only one person got it 1/2 right (Nitrorcjunkie) I can't believe The Collector hasn't chimed in yet. He must be on sick leave. Well what you have is two really old Traxxas trucks. The first is a Nitro Hawk. that's the one that "runs" the other is a Nitro Street. Both trucks look pretty much stock. Here is a link to get part number and exploded views from. Good luck both truck will be hard to find parts for but there are some out there.

RE: What is this?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOM MMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My grandson will be happy to know that I have a name to research. I looked at the exploded views and that's it. One question for you,"whiteshark107". What made you think the second is the street model? They are identical except for the tires and motors as far as I can tell. I looked at the nitro street and the nitro hawks exploded views and the rear A-arms are different on the street than both of mine. Thanks again. This is exactly what I was looking for. Shawn |
RE: What is this?
Well by going off the chassis the only difference between the two would be part # 3192. Which is a Gearbox Spacer. It is on the Nitro Hawk it is not on the Nitro Street. If both yours have it they are both hawks. Here is a link of the part. It sits right under the engine. Good luck.

RE: What is this?
I believe there both Hawks. This has been a big help. My grandson might not get to play with this much. It'll be a transition from his electric to nitro. I'll let him play with my revo and savage then I'll get him either a HPI mt 2 or a Traxxas Nitro Rustler. It depends how he handles 4wd. I'll more than likly try to restore the hawk and after my grandson is done with it, it'll sit on a shelf.

RE: What is this?
I'm getting the GPM cvd kits, alloy hubs, new tanks and tires for them both. I do have a question about the ball diffs, are they recommended?
Thanks Shawn |

RE: What is this?
I don't care about being cheep. If I wanted to be cheep I wouldn't be in RC. What I asked is "are they recommended" not "are they worth it." Big difference. If I have to put $1000.00 to get something to perform the way I want it to, it's worth it, to me. To me it's not about money, it's about fun.
I'll get off my soap box now (wasn't trying to but now you know where I'm coming from) and I'll ask again are the ball diffs "recommended?" Shawn |
RE: What is this?
Ball differentials are more for racing or if you have a big engine that delivers a lot of power. So durability wise it might be good but I wouldn't recommend it unless your racing or your putting a BB where a SB goes...
