Default The Convair Flys

It has been a long project, but my Don Smith Convair 440 in Frontier colors flew tonight. Everything went as planned. I want to thank alot of people for their help and suggestions in the makingg of this tough build. Alan Walser, Jim Ellis, Ray Atkinson, Jerry Britch, Gaines Smith, Howard Davaidson, Bill Holland , BB Weber, Jim and Dicky, the Muskogee Oklahoma Club, and especially Oklahoma Sooner squadron and Stan the man. I have enclosed a pic of the airplane and will post video in the next day or so the flight. Thank you to everyone for your help and if I forgot someone, I am sorry. Thank you all.

Chip

Looks and flies great! I flew on Frontier Convair 580s (the turbo-prop conversion of the 340/440) as a kid all over Colorado and Nebraska. Just curious, I noticed you chose the last Frontier color scheme they used on the 580s, instead of the green/gold and white of the 440s - did you just like it better? Anyway, fantastic job and model! Hi all and thank you for the nice comments. Yes I went with the 580 color scheme, I just liked it better.

I attached an older pic of it before the colors.

Not Much. She rolled a little on take off and thats was due to that engine being a little rich. Other than that it went as planned. I want to fly it now, lol. Just a tad to nervous on something this big for me to do the first flight. Egos have crashed a lot of good airplanes, if you know what I mean. Sorry for the dealy in replying, we were in the process of moving
