Hi Davie,
Your website is teasing me about when new pictures will be posted!!! It was less than a week at one time and now it is more than a month! I am looking forward to an update and/or pictures.
You are the Globemaster of modelers!!!

Hi Davie,
Thanks for the links for more information. I am more impressed everytime I look at your Gobemaster!
I am sad to hear you were in the hospital and wish you a speedy recovery.
There is no doubt in my mind that your C-17A model will fly better than the full scale airplane!
Sincerely, McleodAviation

Very very very nice.....
So, how do you plan to get this thing to the field? Tow it behind your car with a tow bar or fly it to the field airlifting your car?
Dang that's big.
Really big.
Why is the word we use to describe something large so small? I'll try the southern pronunciation:
Damnthattheresbig.

Went to Davie's website to check on the progress of the BGC test flights and found this. Good luck with the move Davie.
Test flights of the C-17 'Globemaster III' will now take place in June/July 2005 as we are moving to a new home . . . . . . . . . Pictures and videos of the test flights will be posted on this site as soon as this happens

Hi all:
Thank you for all you kind words and support. The house move is going to be fun?!?!?!?! but will not be back into the workshop until mid May so that is why the test flights have been put back yet again.
On other news, the BGC has made the front page of www.largemodelassociation.com
I'll kepp you upto date as things move on.
Davie.

Your links are down for the C 17 on your site. Is there any way to still see them? This is so awesome and you have done great work. What is the total weight and wing loading? Thank you for your workmanship.

Greetings Mr. Mathews:
There is a video in a web page from The Netherlands filmed at Rougham Airfield in Bury St.Edmunds, Suffolk that shows a large scale C-17 Globemaster with Royal Air force markings in take off, flight and landing. Is this your model? or is this the one mentioned on this thread that was made for Discovery. If it is not yours how does it compare to yours in general specifications.
I am sure you have heard it enough, but that´s an outstanding plane
Congratulations
Pedro

RE: C-17A 'Globemaster III' . . . .BGC !!!
This info was sent to me in an e-mail the other day.
The four builders are shown in the last image. Colin Straus, the owner, is at the nose of the aircraft.
This 1/9th scale radio-controlled C-17 model was built in the United Kingdom. To date it has about 20 flights. It was built as the centerpiece of a 15 program television series produced in the U.K. for the Home and Leisure satellite TV channel. Built with the aid of three friends, it took one year to build and is powered with 4 Jetcat P-120 turbines with a total thrust of 108 lbs. The models weighs over 250 lbs fueled, and carries 12.5 liters (3.3 US gallons) of 95% kerosene and 5% turbine oil fuel. Other details include 5 Futaba PCM receivers, 16 battery packs (93 cells), 20 Futaba servos, on board air compressor, electro/pneumatic retracts, etc. Wingspan is 20 feet 8 inches, and the top of the fin is 74 inches (6 feet 2 inches) above the ground. Takeoff weight is 264 lbs. The rear cargo doors open and they drop an r/c jeep on a pallet, as well as 2 free-fall r/c parachutists. The model also has smoke systems both of the inboard turbines, and uses 2.4 GHz data link to provide real-time data to a laptop computer on the ground while in flight, this data includes airspeed, turbine RPM, EGT, fuel consumption, etc. It is covered in fiberglass and epoxy resin. Built mainly from balsa and ply, with many glass and carbon fiber moldings to reduce weight. This C-17 Globemaster III is one of the largest jet models in the world today! Complete with retractable landing gear and pneumatically operated flaps
