The 91's are heavier @ 22.2 oz without the mufflers compared to 14.9 oz for the 55's and both can reach 2 HP, the 91's @ 12,000 rpm and the 55's @ 17,000. Plus i really like the sound of two screaming 2 strokes. Here are some pics of the first C 47 I built This one was the Top Flite Kit

The 310 ARF did not come with lights. The Royal C47 is all built up balsa and skinned with light glass cloth.

Another vote for Dave Platt's Duellist. I personally think it's one of the sexiest model aircraft ever designed.

The Duelist is was made by Pica. Kits do show up from time to time and there was an ARF version for a while. Look around and you can probably find one. Great flying airplane and pretty much meets your requirements. Looks good too.

I probably should have mentioned that but finding a Duellist shoiuldn't be too difficult depending on what you're willing to pay. A lot of Pica's kits were Dave Platt designs.

Gotta hand it to you boy's, that looks like it'd be a whole lot of fun. I checked out DP's web site and it's no longer listed for sale. But that got me to thinking, any of y'all ever seen or heard of a sig kougar being bashed into a twin? I happen to have an older rc-35 kougar kit, NIB with the foam core wing's. Hmmm, I wonder, trike or tail dragger. Retracts would be a must.

I've flown several kougars before and each and everyone were great flyer's. wonder how it might turn out. I've had the kit for about 5 year's now and I think it may be time to utilize it. any ideas would be most helpful. I think I may start a new build thread just to see if anyone would be interested.

Pica Duellist is a good choice. Here's a picture of one with two OS 55's. I've been flying one for several years. Always draws attention at the field. Have to watch flight time, however, due to small fuel tanks.

That picture is just one I pulled off the internet. Here is a picture of my plane. It has two OS 46's with Jett mufflers using APC 9.5x6 props. Don't remember the size of the tanks, but there is no room to put in larger tanks.

A friend and I built a Kougar twin fuse (twin Mustang style) with two OS 40 FSR's, years back. It weighed a ton and was very sluggish in flight. If you are talking about a single fuse twin engine Kougar, you will have even less wing. It might be really fast, but it will fly like a brick. You might make the single fuse version work with a King Kobra, but speed would still be it's biggest virtue.

I had a World Models P-82 twin Mustang that was a blast to fly. Don't see it for sale any more but Nitro Planes has one that looks like the same size;

I'm interested in what you come up with. I've yet to build a twin, but REALLY want to. I'd really like a Dehaveland comet but I'm thinking it would probably have to be scratch built.

JIm, I hadn't considered a P-82 style twin fuse setup. Don't think thats what I'm after. And also, not for nothin, but 2 x 55ax's will be quite a bit more power than 2 x 40 anything's ever thought about being. Mind , I am concerned about the wing itself. Honestly , I've never built nacelles before , let alone mounted them on a foam core wing.How hard can it be , right?

What up STEVE-O, that is what's so cool about this whole thing. We can build anything we can dream up. As modeler's, I don't think we are as limited in a lot of way's , like full scale designers are. Know what I mean? Think about , a frisbee! who the hell thought that would be able to fly anyway? Just goes to show , force overcome's a lot.

And with a single fuse , twin engine design, really the sky actually is our only limitation. I was thinking of utilizing the kougar kit that I have, maybe as more of a test-bed than anything. It's a cool design already. But that not withstanding , seems like everyone and their brother has had one but me...

WWIIP38, I like the look of the duellist a lot, but never even understood the reasoning for a design like the venerable P82, what did they just one day realize their fuse building department was way ahead of the wing guy's at the plant??? Still though, they do look cool.

I don't really understand the reasoning for more than one engine on anything not carrying a lot of weight or passengers anyway. Seems like for every + there could be argued a - . And that's why this forum is so great , collectively , we can come up with and talk about ideas for anything we would like to see fly.

What about a twin ducted fan jet? Not sure what's out there, but there may be something that would match up good with a pair of 55's.

Hey You Guy's, anyone have any advise thoughts about building nacelles? I'm thinking something modular containing the engine and exhaust,of course, and the fuel tank and t-servo as well. But I'm wondering what the possibility of incorperating the main landing gear would be. Or do you think spreading the weight out on the wing would be better?

Any thought's?

I'd thought about doing something like that too, but with edf's . I don't know about using 55's though, I mean, I've not ever seen one set up on a fan,and I'm not to sure it would spin one fast enough. And I don't think you could set one up as a twin in a 46 size plane. now a 60 size A10- Warthog might be cool with twin 55's spinning fans. and probably wouldn't be too hard to pull off.

But again, you would need to test a lot or get real lucky as far as the right combination of 55-fan-fuel . Sure would be interesting to see. thinking of getting another 55 steve? Did you ever clean all the terra-firma out of the one that was on the raven, R.I.P.

No, still sitting on the shelf, covered in dirt. I'll get around to it. I've seen plenty of ducted fan jets running two stroke glows. It can be done. Just a thought. Hey, if you bash the kougar into a twin, you can call it a " TWOgar."
