Default New vq twin mustang 80"

NEW VQ TWIN MUSTANG 80"
Greetings from the land of VQ MODELS... Just excited to share the pending arrival of a new GENERATION of VQ MODELS... a TWIN MUSTANG ready for glow or electric power , available electric retracts 80" wingspan. This model really has more scale details than any previous VQ MODEL and I am soooo happy to show them off... They are not perfect scale but for the price point and sport Warbird Flyer these will definitely turn some heads at any flight line.... MORE DETAILS, specs etc will be added to the listings / website soon...

check it out here:

VQ 80" F-82

Hey Thomas

Do you have any idea as to what size engines it is going to take?

Thanks

Hay Black Drape,
I would think, .40 ~ .61 tops in glow power would do the airframe quite nice. I built the World Models version with a 70" wing span and with two Fox .50's, it was both fast and very maneuverable. It did build nose heavy, so time will tell how this one builds out. The F-82 has outstanding single engine out performance and a world apart from the P-38. The F-82 will fly almost as good on one engine as two...just a bit slower. I do hope Thomas gets them in soon...for I'm on the waiting list for one.

Hey Bobby

That's what I am hoping for. I have two OS46FX engines that are looking for a home. The only thing that concerns me is the type of covering material they use. I have never owned a VQ model, but have seen several and I think it would be quite a challenge to patch that covering. Of course as great a flier as I am, I probably won't have to worry about that.LOL.

Hay Black Drape,
I ended up pulling the Fox .50's and went with a good pair of .32's (World Models 70" F-82). The .32's did the trick, flew the model almost as fast as the Fox .50's and I needed no lead in the tail, for proper balance. A solid good flying twin-an excellent flying twin.

I'm not a real fan of VQ covering at all and in fact I stopped buying VQ ARF's because of the lousy covering. I do hope Thomas has his models covered in something else...like Super Monokote... : ) The VQ covering is like thick sticky shelf paper, it is impossible to patch the covering (accept clear box tape), will fade in the sun and is attacked by CA glue and goes white in color once the glue hits the covering. My last VQ model was the A-26 and I've had half a dozen VQ models over the years-no more.

The F-82 has a very unusual presents in the air and is very stable, while showing no vices in the single engine flight envelope. My Fox .50's were inverted and gave me fits and never ran well inverted. I had about 50 flights on my model prior to its demise (reversed ailerons), and I had better then 30 single engine flights and landings. I was able to easily control the model on one engine and a non event really. Nothing like the P-38...now that is a killer on one engine, but not the F-82. I want this kit and have already pre-ordered one from Thomas.

Soft Landings Always,
Bobby of Maui

Hey Bobby

Yeah, I have a friend here who has the A26. He buggered it and managed to patch it, don't know how. He couldn't match the color so just used some OD paint, looks like a a field repair.LOL. Glad to hear about the single engine performance, I just finished an ESM P38 this summer. Man, you want to talk about a crummy kit! It does fly pretty good, doesn't seem to have any bad habits but really don't want to try a single engine flight. Hope Thomas chimes in and gives us a little more info on the F82.

TRAVIS,

103" wingspan all composite construction with panel lines molded in.
Wing 3 piece. Set up for fuselage and center wing with retracts to stay intact allowing easy transportation with retracts extended.
Will offer scale spinners, electric or pneumatic gear your choice, scale cockpit kit, pilot figures, scale wheels.
Recommended engines will be 25cc-30cc or electric equivalent.
We will be assembling/ testing the prototype here in Texas in about 2 months or so.
After which we will post photos for pre-orders and drool ....

Here is one sneak peek photo... prototype being mocked up... It has the radar pod in the middle
and drop tanks will be fitted for release while airborne.... mechanisms included....
This is an advanced pre-fabricated aircraft...still requires skilled assembly by
hobbyist with experience. Very basic instructions will be included but definitely
not for inexperienced hobbyists.

THAT IS ALL FOR NOW ;-)
