In line (tandem) engine setup question
I've started a project and was curious if any one had any information about tandem motor set ups. I talked to an individual who designed a Dornier Wal about his thoughts and his recommendations were to mount the motors in the nacelle with zero-zero thrust angles and to use two tractor props and have both motors turning in the same direction as a counter rotating set up with a tractor and a pusher prop created some weird buffeting against the vertical fin and rudder. The only deviation from his set up is that in my project the front motor will be mounted a bit higher than the rear and I'm not sure how that will impact the design.
The project is a Multiplex FunCub that will be adapted into a one off Super Cub adaptation called the DoubleEnder! I started it some time ago but stalled out trying to find someone who could pull a canopy that size and shape. However a couple of weeks ago I put a GoPro on a EasyStar and was so pleased with the view I thought I'd pick up the project again as a dedicated camera ship with the aim of trying to reproduce the view seen from the actual aircraft.
