Obscure Russian Bomber
In 1939 the government of the USSR issued a specification for a twin-engine dive bomber. The Petlyakov Pe-2 and Tupolev Tu-2 were the well known results of this spec. Recent research has uncovered a third contender, the Coldrolski CrS-7. Well it "could have been." Model is a kit bash of a Direct Connection Sea Fury kit. Wing span increased to 75" for an area of 960 sq. in. Weight: 10.5#. Power by two OS .52 four-strokes. Highly modified Century Jet 90 degree rotating retracts that were originally in a Top Flite P-40. It flies very smoothly, but not too fast, and is capable of aerobatics with the exception of knife edge flight. No additional ballast required. Rudder linkage is all internal. Seven flights so far. The last two involved an engine out landing. Turns were made into the good engine and control was good. Engines set at 0-0. Oh yeah, my initials are C.R.S. (which stands for cold rolled steel in engineering land) and this is the seventh twin I have built-- hence the made up name.

CRS could also stand for "Chuck, Really Sweet."
There is a thread about a Duellist bash into a German twin engined fighter, sadly I can never remember the thread title or the username, but it is very well done also.
Bill.

Just remembered the name of the fellow who did the Duellist bash. He uses a picture of it as his avatar. You can see it in post #4 in this thread.
How about it Muck? Give us the URL again? Please?
Thanks.

Hi there Bill,
the url is:
http://www.elliotfan.com/temp/duelist.html
complete with built-in typo that I have yet to address.
R8893,
No questions, just wanted to see some bigger pics of your very cool project. Been toying with the idea of scratching a TU-2 actually, but that will definitely be quite some time down the road...
cheers,
-E

Enjoyed it yet again. You've added the detail shots since I looked last, or maybe I missed them before. Learned a lot from your gear door system.
And I bookmarked the site this time.
Thanks.

R8893,
Did you form your own canopy?
flyer_of_planes,
Yes, there is a little (or a lot) of 110 in the rudder/fins and rear fuselage. As for the cockpit/nose area, the stock duellist parts/design has a passing resemblance to the 262.

To Mucksmear,
? did I form my own canopy. No and yes. I had a canopy salvaged from an Aerotech International Me110. I shortened it and used it on the CrS-7 initially. I overshot the runway on the first flight and the plane flipped over. The canopy was shattered and the stab broke when the twin tails hit. I then did make a mold and vacuum form a new canopy of approximately the same shape. I also added struts to reinforce the stab.

R8893,
That is very nice plane. The one below is a DIS 200, officially named the MIG5. Two were completed but the Russian Aviation industry could not afford production capacity to produce it.
Mine is for RC Combat. 54.5" span, 550 square inches, two OS LA .15 engines fed by a single pressure bladder mounted spanwise between the nacelles in the wing. Finished it weighs 3 lbs 14-1/2 ounces.
The design and construction process in photos is on www.georgiacombat.com
