ARP:

You may be fortunate with a P-38, but as a first twin I can almost guarantee the loss of one engine will result in no longer having a flyable twin.

If it's a good deal, get the plane, but have someone experienced fly it, you fly it on a buddy box, at least for a while. Better if you get a Twin-Air, or a Duellist, or some other sport twin for your initial flights and transition to twins. Keep the P-38 on the shelf until you get a few hours stick time.
