A pic of my new stand-off Bristol Beaufighter. 80" span , 9 lbs with Axi 2826/12s. First flight was a scary 15 seconds as one motro kept cutting out ( bad connector joint). Second flight pending soon.

Sure does - mechanical with one servo in each nacelle.

Scratch built by a friend from his own plans. I am using two 4s3p lipo packs for the motors and a recvr battery for the servos.

Very nice Beaufighter! I am amazed that there are not more of these around but that just makes the few you see all the more special. Congratulations on a fine job.

A friend of mine in Fremont Ca. has been flying a scratch built B-Fighter for years, you may have seen it in pictures from the Castle A.F.B. meets. It's powered by a pair of Saito 300 twins, has custom built retracts and drops a torpedo.

Any insight on your 2826/12 motors yet? I'm using 2820/10 motors in my Hobbico Star with Jeti 40 amp controllers and a 3S3P 6000 Li-Pol battery but need to change the props from APC 10X7-E to 10X10-E.

I was thinking on using the 2826 motors on my 78" Canadair CL215 Fire Bomber which weighs only 6.4 lbs. empty.
Which props are you using?

I'm using APC 12x8 E props. Had first 2 real flights this am. Total time about 16-17 mins. Plane flew great at 1/2 -3/4 throttle - nice loops and rolls. Retracts are World Models (came with my big Zero) and they worked ok too. No issues today. Batteries used about 3800 MA and about 1.5 volts. Should have some pics by the weekend.

Great, that's what I'll use, the Canadair has room for up to 14" props.

A friend of mine has the World GS ZERO with a Zen G-38 and smoke, great combo!!!
The factory retracts are just usable if careful, grease every landing and don't turn too sharp.

I replaced the gear on the Zero with "Spring-arts", Spring air mechanisms and Robart struts. Rock solid. Here are a couple pics from yesterday.

I'm in the middle of designing my own plans (and they will be a free download) heres the data so far

I've drawn both built up and provided foam templates (inc washout) for the wing outer panels from just after the engines, these will be removable to assist in transport.

Engines used:

Low end of the weight scale would be a pair of 60 4-strokes, top end a pair of 90 4-strokes (no screaming 2-strokes please)

wing area: 1190 (ish, still playing with the outer panels)

Weight: 17~19Lbs

Hello Graham:

I am seriously interested in receiving a CD with your Beau planset in DXF if you're game. With respect to your original size have you been successful in soliciting cowls and a couple of noses...thimble and standard? Love the Fort! Will probably use YS91's.
