Here is a very rare photo of the prototype B-17 on floats.

This picture was found on the now closed web site "Secrets Revealed!". It seems they revealed to many secrets and were forced to close the doors.

Not sure why this would still be a secret that needed secrecy but maybe there is a plan to use the float equiped B-17 in a "WaterWorld" type scenario.

I am not sure how long this picture will stay posted so look while you can.

Hi Twinman,

About a year ago I bought a pair of GB plastic floats and spent some time looking at the waterplane posts. To cut a long story short It was suggested that I either modify them or bin them. The concensus seemed to be that a float MUST be curved at the bottom from the step forward, not flat. In your second pic your floats appear to have a straight line from the step forward.

N.B. I have no experience of waterbourne craft translating to airbourne other than hitting a mudbank in a yacht.

P.S. I love your compettitive spirit, when I realised that my flying skills would never match my ambition I decided to leave the waterplanes alone. More power to you.

Twinman, I found another picture to prove my "WaterWorld" connection. It shows Kevin Costner being chased by B-17's on floats.
Not so crazy after all, eh
