I'm glad you like the aircraft so much! I figure as an employee of Adam Aircraft you would be even more critical then most, so receiving your favorable review makes me very happy. Thank you again for your continued support and from the others at Adam as well.

Cheers,

MY wife said no more planes. After I got a new plane. This was after she said "NO MORE PLANES” but I still purchased another large-scale plane!
The Adam Aircraft is fantastic. It is so unique in the way it presents. It is just awesome. I had never had a twin-engine plane yet. This would make such a splash at where I fly... I would have to put up a gated entrance around my pit so I could control the amount of members, so they wouldn't droll all over it!!
I also like the CIruus SR... very nice.. But this one is very special.... just flows linke no other plane that I have seen!

I have started building my plane. I will get some pics when it is finished.
The build is taking longer than I would like but I am unfamiliar territory
regarding the building style and construction methods.

I checked on the other twin builds Like the Tigercat form KMP, and they are also taking longer than expected... the manuals are not for those that have not put many many planes together, in fact the manuals leave you wanting more.....

HI:
We are expecting our next order in about 6 weeks. We did incur a bit of a delay with some new material which was late getting to the factory that we are using in the wings and tail. I appologize for any inconvenience but the wait will be well worth it.
Cheers,

Andrew..

what engines were run in the prototype A-500? Were any gaser run like the zenoah 26 or the 20cc? I thought that the size of this plane at least makes it a candidate for the zenoah 20cc gas? Was weight needed to balance with a nitro .91? and How much was used in the prototype?
Going to buy a twin, not sure but if this one will take a petro engine, It would make the desicion much easier.

Help would be appreciated!!

Due to a various delays to include 3 bladed spinners and other personal delays, assembly will begin again.

I should be able to post pictures of the final product and hopefully with the full scale plane in a couple more weeks. I need to get permission from the managment of Adam Aircraft. This shouldn't be a problem as I work for them.

Everything seams to line up Ok. Like I posted before, this is my most complicated build to date. If I had to build another one then I would change a few steps of the instructions. I would integrate the R/C cable running during the build. Overall I still like it and would build another if given the chance.

I was hoping to fly the plane at our regular Adam Aircraft company pick-nik but they decided to have it at Eliche's amusement park this year. It is also this weekend and I couldn't go this time.

I am going to run a couple of YS-91 motors. These motors are especially powerful. Upon talking to Andrew, he recommended 14X6 2 bladed props. 2 bladed props are easier to get in a pusher configuration but I was worried about ground clearance issues so I thought I would try some 3 bladed props. I had to special order some Tru-turn spinners. It took a while for the local hobby store to ge them in.

I saw the latest MAN magazine today.....
Showed the winners of the Zenoah 20ei contest....
Well to my surprise, one of the winners had a Adam aircraft 500 KMP with 2-20EI in it!....
Looked like the other was a KMP bronco....
What a real beutiful aircraft!...
I may pick this one up in the future!

I have just received my A500 and apart from the good quality that I have seen so far, I have a question mark on the landing gear and wheels combination. It looks to me the oleo leg forks are too wide for the supplied wheels. Anybody come across this before and what was done to fix the problem.

cheers

Can you take a picture? I assembled my retractable gear and everything seams to fit OK.

Hi jamesc43 - you will see in the pics how too wide the oleo forks are for the wheels. The distance between the oleo forks is 1 - 19/16" (40mm) and the tyre width is 1" (25mm). The tyre width looks scale but the forks don't.

This is an ESM kit made in China, looking at these posts it seems to me to be marketed as a KPM kit in the US - nothing wrong with that but it seems there could be differences in the kit from what I have received compared to what you guys got.

So far I am out of luck getting any support from my supplier in downunder land to fix it - they just don't want to know. Looking more closley at the boxtop pics and comparing them to what came out of the box they do look different. My short term fix is to just fit wider wheels until I can work out how to narrow down the distance between the oleo forks. I live in blind hope the supplier will help!

keep smiling - it doesn't hurt

I have to apologise to the ozzie kit supplier for my above post. I didn't know there were two sets of wheels in the kit. I didn't understand that the second set buried in the bowels of the box were those to be used with the retracts supplied in a separate package. I made the mistake of getting hyperactive in the emotions department having spent a lot of dollars on this kit with a lot of accessories I bought at the same time (servos, leads, receiver, battery etc etc). I was only thinking and not knowing how the the wheels and U/C went together. In my frustration I wrote some terse verse to the supplier in an email that I shouldn't have sent. I did end up receiving a phone call from the supplier to tell me that the wheels shown on the box were in the kit. - I sincerely apologise to the supplier for my actions.

I noticed the same issue on my A500. I used wheel collars on the shafts keep the wheels centered in the forks. I agree that the forks could be a little narrower but also wonder if the forks are built for a set of wheels that incorperate brakes in to them. I was told that this flyies fast and it will land fast also so installing brakes might not be a bad idea.

Bad news for the real thing.

On February 15, 2008 Adam Aircraft Industries, Inc. filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 7 of the U.S. bankruptcy code. The case number is 08-11751.

Hello Andrew - Can you please advise your understanding of why the oleo forks that come in the A500 kit are different to those shown on the pictures on the box it comes in and on the websites advertising it.

I notice in this thread you talk of having factory contact so I am wondering if you could expedite an answer for me please.

I have been discussing this issue in this thread at post 68 thru 71.

smile - it doesn't hurt

Hello Ichy,

That notice hurt alot. They closed the doors on February 11, 2008. At that time the employees were to told to go home because they couldn't pay them anymore. They had a meeting on February 8 and was told that if they couldn't pay them then they wouldn' thave them come to work any more.

James

James, sorry for your loss and the closing of the company. I was at dinner tonight with a friend who said that one of his friends was a stockholder in the company. Lost a bunch of bucks. Sorry but I can't remember his name.
