I appreciate your effors on the main gear doors!! It has saved me many hours of experimentation and I was curious if you have done the actuators yet?? I used the Sierra gear and it eliminated the problem you found with the clearance on the tire when retracted, as they travel 110 degrees and go further into the nacelle. I was curious, too, did you use just 2 hinges on each door half or is there a third not shown in the photos?

Yep, I feel the same.. I went back and looked at the pics of the work others have done to see the rudder exits, they are not cut in for us, like the elev halves. I guess when they got around to that they took a break in mfg'ing....

Woks progresses... I have all the little blocks set in with Epoxy, ca'd for strenght and painted to be hidden. now to the servo mounts and the nacelles and getting the 170's installed.

Doesn't someone offer a prebuilt servo mount?

That seems hard to believe!

I have a "what if" here, What if for rudder control a CF arrow shaft with 4-40 rod was used instead of pull-pull? Do you think that a push-pull would work well with this plane?

Thanks

Hi All,
I have a question about the center section of the wing. The metal joining tubes for the wings do not have a connection at the center for strength. In other words they only go through the wing ribs and not in a tube and do not connect to each other. The problem/question is what structure is there for a dihedral brace. I don't or can't see any main spar or plywood plate for a diehedral brace. The entire structure is fiberglass over a composite foam structure and several ribs. This wing supports a great deal of weight not to mention the aerodinamic loads it is going to be stressed with during flight. I intend to glue the entire wing structure together into a one piece wing but I would like to be sure of the wings internal structure at the center section. I am trying to get in touch with Andrew but we are playing phone tag at the moment. My kit is from the second shipment.

I had wondered about that too. Kinda hard to go back in and laminate a brace.

Sorry to be so long in getting back to you! I've been fairly busy and under the weather to boot.
As far as the actuation goes I feel it needs to be sequencial. The spacing is way too close to be any other way. As yet, besides an $80 sequencer, I haven't found a method.

Now if I could find a way to double my ambition and add 12 or so more hours to a day...........

T-CAT CROWD, HERE'S THE FINISHED ENGINE AND COWL MOUNTING OF THE G-26........ THE COWL COMES RIGHT OFF WITH ONLY HAVING TO REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE PLANE IS STILL TAIL HEAVY WITH ALL THIS UP FRONT, A 3000MAH BATTERY FORWARD OF THE FRONT WING BULKHEAD, AND RADIO GEAR...EVERYONE... DON'T FORGET TO LOCKTITE EVERY NUT AND BOLT ON THE LANDING GEAR, AND RETRACT MECHINSIMS, INCLUDING THE SCREWS IN THE WHEELS.

N215, HERE'S SOME PICS OF THE 4-40 ROD PULL PULL SETUP.
So you basically use 4-40 rod (how long) and connected it up like pull-pull wire - COOL. What about flex, notice much?

Thanks for the post!

CHASRB, NO FLEX SINCE THE DIRECTION THE PLANE IS TURNING TO IS ALWAYS THE SIDE BEING PULLED. AM USING A HITEC 645 METAL GEAR SERVO, GREAT PLANES, ROBART, AND DUBRO HARDWARE, SUPER STRONG. THE LENGTH OF THE RODS ARE SOMEWHERE AROUND 33 IN. DON'T REMEMBER OFF HAND. NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES IN A HEAVEN FORBID ENGINE OUT AND HARD ON THE RUDDER WITH CABLE THAT CAN STRECH, AND 40 SIZE HARDWARE THE PLANE CAME WITH....... NOTICE ALSO I CHANGED OUT THE FACTORY GLASS ROD SETUP ON THE ELEVATORS WITH 4-40'S AS WELL. THEY FIT NICELY IN THE EXIT TUBES THE FACTORY INSTALLED. SAME LOGIC WHERE AS WELL.

VKerster, I've been eyeing this thread since it started. Very intresting plane.

I had 645's in my mustangs and the gear slop was so bad the plane wouldn't tract staight. If you last pulled up, it wanted to keep a little up in it and the same for down. I switched them out for some new 5645s and it got a better but still not great. So I finnally put some sport digitals with nylon gears and WOW what a difference. It flys like it's on a rail now. No slop at all. I don't know if any of you guys have had this problem with the Hitec metal gears or not. So just passing it on.

from now on the metal gear servos are used only in flaps or my big 3D plane.

THUNDERBOLT47, I'M USING THE HITEC 645'S IN A TOP FLITE GIANT P-51 AS WELL AND HAVE'NT HAD THIS ISSUE. THIS PLANE WILL MIMMIC YOUR SYMPTOM IF IT IS UNDERPOWERED OR UNDER PROPED. I'M USING A G-62 AND A 22X 10 XOAR PROP AND THIS PLANE FLIES LIKE IT'S ON RAILS, NO SEVRO ISSUES. I USED THE HITRC 635'S [CARBONITE GEARS]IN THE BEGINNING AND THESE SEVROS ARE JUNK!! SNAPPED TWO GEARS IN TWO DIFFERENT SEVROS IN 7 FLIGHTS. HITEC REALLY SCREWED UP WITH THIS SEVRO. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T INSTALL IT IN YOUR T-CAT....

Vkerster, I'm running a G-62 on my mustang with a racing prop. Maybe it was to much speed making me notice it.

Anyways, you guys hurry and get one up in the air.
