I'm Mike guys and I'm going to do the C130 Hercules build out here but not under this thread. I have one started that I will continue under. Frank it's Mike again did you happen to get that article on the flaps we were talking about. I've had difficulties with my email servers and haven't received it yet if you have mailed it out. Sam it's Mike we met at the London swap meet a few years ago and yes I got from him. I as well have a few to finish off like my 1/11 scale DC3 with twin 17cc gas engine's, a 1/5th scale top flite giant scale gold edition P47, and a few others as well. I'm also working on drawings of a Maule MX 7 235 bush plane in a 1/4 scale.

I know you are not him Frank, my reply was to Mr. Lang as I have met him once and did a trade at a swapmeet couple years ago. I believe Mr. Lang's first name is Mike if I still remember correctly....

Mike;

Sorry about the mis-I.D.

I did send the articles to your [email protected] email on Nov. 19th, but did not hear back. I also sent them to another modeler in Canada and he got his. I will send it again.

Regard, Frank

Sam;

Sorry for the misunderstanding but the RCU sent me the info saying I had a message. I thought you were talking about Mike Ulkowski.

Hi Guys
Sorry to derail the thread a little but I am looking for some help identifying the pictures that are attached. These four photos are of a cowl off of what is presumed to be a four engine aircraft as the placard stated that it was for the no. 3 engine. The cowl is a composite structure with foam in it and therefore was able to float. The photo angles distort the shape somewhat because of the perspective. The overall length is 5 to 6 feet. This piece was discovered washed up on the North coast of British Columbia, Canada in 1972. The person who found it and brought this to my attention just came to me recently wondering if I could identify it for him and help solve this long time mystery as to what aircraft it came from. I was thinking that it might be from a C-130 but this is only a guess. any of you out there that have extensive knowledge of the C-130 might be able to help confirm or deny this suspicion.

Thanks for any input and help is much appreciated.

Leif

PC-6;

Sorry I can't help you with the picture I.D. The cowl does look similar to the C-130 but no definite details are seen to be sure.

Hi folks,

finally, after having the laser cut kit for 1 1/2 years in the basement, I have started to actually work on my Herky bird. I had to finish my Spirit of St. Louis first, but now it's done.

I'll be quite limitied in time so progress will be slow. But anyway here is my start:

I will try to continuously post here.

BR
Mike

Looking nice soundfan. Keep up the good work, I was hoping to have mine started but I'm finishing off a Top Flite Gold Edition Giant scale P47 and my 1/11 th scale DC-3. What Spirit of St Louis did you build.

Thanks, Frank

Hi Frank I don't know what's going on with my email. I received the second email and was able to view and print it. I did send a reply back to you by email. But by this response I'm assuming that you haven't received it. I'm sorry for the screw up and also thank you for the articles. I think I will be doing all my flaps that way from this point on.

I bought the short kit from "fun Modellbau" in Germany. It's mainly straight forward, no big challenges.

But a real beauty in the sky!

That is a beautiful plane, I e seen the one when I was younger. I've always wanted to build one and been looking for ages to see one built online. Did you do a build thread of it when you were building it.

Mike;

The receipt of your reply may have been my fault as I don't frequent this thread very often since my aircraft has been completed. I am glad that you did receive the articles. If you would like pictures of my installation I would be pleased to send them to you and this thread.

Regards, Frank

I will post it on this thread for everyone to see and use if they like. It's my modification to one of the articles I sent to you.

Frank (Oltimer),

did you receive my PM? I also tried to contact you via email but got a reply "wrong address" (the email contact you gave me last year).

Could you send me a PM with your current email address please?

Thanks in advance

Mike;

Hopefully you received the articles and pictures I sent. When you construct your fuselage please be sure to reinforce the area around the Cargo Doors. My plane broke at that point on hard landing. This is the weakest point on the whole aircraft. Also, if you are planning on using gas or glow engines beef up the engine nacelles as they are resonant at about 2500 RPM due to the long nacelle moment.

Regards, Oltimer

Hi Frank,

yes, I received your pictures but no articel yet. I also answered right after your mails with the pictures. Thank you again.

And thank you for the hints and tipps about what to look for and which parts to reinforce.
I will definitely take them seriously.

I found already some parts which are not like they should be. Also the wheels I bought before are too wide for the main gear. I'll have to look for some smaller ones.
Today I'll connect both sides for the box frame.

BR Mike

Next few steps. The box is done. Following Frank's recommondation I will reinforce the bent rear chords along the cargo bay with carbon rovings. This won't add much wheight but increases stability by far.

If I maintain this speed, I will finish this project on time with the opening of our Capital's new aerodrome "BER" (in 2018 - perhaps).
