Yes SJ, I'm still planning on doing the nose in April. I'm running slowly on my plane but should be able to pick up the pace shortly. Don't know about a mold from plaster but I'm going to make mine from pink foam fiberglassed over.

RE: Don Smith A-26
Hey Dave,
I'd planned on such a thread although it'll probably be a short one or at least I hope so. I haven't got to see all of the plane just yet but I'm taking his word that it's in good shape. It'll probably take at least an hour to be able to get to it. I haven't asked him how long ago he built it but it is towards the front part of the Gold mine and I've seen nothing stacked on top of it. Just other planes blocking the full view. Anyway I just had to share the news about my scoring such a find at that price.
I'll be in touch when I have my molds ready to go.
Hope your able to get back to your build soon.

Hi All,
I was looking around some this morning trying to be quiet and let the wife sleep in and I found this site. http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/a26-intruder.htm
Lots of detail that may be helpful. I myself like their "Old Geezers" patch. I need to get me one of those. Hope ya'll find something useful on the site. There's also some simulator downloads for the A-26B. C & K models but I don't think they're for RC.

Went away from one sevo driving both inner flaps with bellcranks to two direct connect servos. I'm going to have to make hatches for them too. However, the flap is very rigid now. Probably would have worked better with a ball bearing bellcrank assuming someone makes them.

Next for me was throttle control and ignition kill. Not much help on this on the plans. I looked at trying to put the servos in the nacelles with a hatch access but deceided to mount them in the center section and connect them up with simple nyrods. Only need two servo which is a plus. This seems to work very well. For ignition kill I'm just going to use a simple micro switch to kill power to the igition unit.

RE: Don Smith A-26
Dave, what is the second nyrod for? Choke?
By the way, I have enjoyed building this at the same time as you. You are pushing me to get this done faster. Thank you!

The second servo activated nyrod will activate a micro switch by the ignition unit allowing you to kill the engine from the radio. I looked at some of the electronic units to do this but this was cheaper and works well.
For the choke, I'm going to cut in a hatch in the cowl to allow access the the carb, thus the choke and high and low speed needles also.
What are we building next?

RE: Don Smith A-26
Dave is that second servo going to operate both kill switches at the same time?[sm=confused.gif]
I thaught of a mini servo with a micro switch attached mounted up front of the nacell on the motor box. It seem like there is enough room for it.
Nice work on the planking[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Eric, Yes the one servo will kill both engines. I just haven't installed the nyrod on the other side yet. I tend to work on one side and then switch to the other side.
My main concern was ignition noise getting back into the system and causing gittery servos. Thus install servos as far away from the engine as possible. With todays radio systems, I don't know if this is really a problem anymore as it was 15 years ago when I was active. You could certainly put a micro servo in the cowl that would active a switch but If I was going to do that I would probably install an electronic switch that plugs into the ignition system and your radio. No servo needed. I think thats what Itchy doing on his.
Thanks for looking and your comments.

Hi Dave, I keep looking in but no update! Hope all is well.
Of course, I have been slow on mine lately as well. I will be gone for a couple of weeks. Will check in when I return.

Got the right side planked and sanded down. Still need to do the left[&o]. Also I sold my radio and plane and got the new JR 2.4 GHZ radio. Trying to quickly put together and ARF to give it a good test. I should win a award for the most messy work area. Anyway, after I get this in the air I''m going to fiberglass the nacell and cut out and install the gear doors. After that I''m switching back to the fuselage for a change. I''m also traveling for a week or two in the next few weeks. Darn work[:@]
