Consider it a device to save P 38’s from instant death every time an engine shuts down. Pettit (Durham) and Bill (Raleigh) are probably less than 20 miles apart. It’s also possible that they fly together.

Looking at the instructions you should have a large diameter wing tube and a smaller diameter one. My parts bag had the smaller one and the two stab tubes inside of the wing tube. The stab tubes being the long ones with the smallest diameter, the small wing tube is slightly larger diameter one and is the same length as the large diameter wing tube. Hope this helps.

Sorry. After reading the instructions I figured out I only need one tube. I initially thought I had a center section of wing and two plug-ins. Not the case for this aircraft. One wing, two pieces, one small one large tube. My initial excitement opening the box made me delusional. I enjoyed unpacking this unit. It was like an Easter egg hunt. Something hidden in every box. Rick,
Looks like only 2 people have their planes yet. I've been been bugging my LHS all week. I ordered mine as soon as it came out in the magazines. He usually gets his big Tower order on Thursdays so I'm still hoping.
Good luck with yours
Bob

Hey Walk in the park,
Did you put any foam under or around your fuel tanks or is there not a need to do this. My concern is fuel foaming in the tank and having a engine out problem. It looks pretty tight .Let me know your thoughts when you have time.
Allen
Great job at the masters by the way.

Hey Dick,
did you not put the front gear doors on for lack of time or just to much work? My next question would be I have never done pull cables so would ni-rod work just as well or not?

They don't supply any attachment or hinging materials with the doors, so they're still sitting on the shelf.
You can't see they're missing in flight and they would be just one more thing to get fouled up.
Pull-pull on the nose wheel steering is easy to set up. Just do it like the book says. Nyrod may be a little too sloppy.

dick,
thanks i will give the pull pull a try. did you use the twin sync or just fine tuning on the engines?
Iam thinking about on board and full time glow drivers on mine. I have them on the two nosens that i have and they have not failed me so far.

I didn't use a TwinSync on the Cessna, at least this one. I tuned the engines to run at close to the same speed throughout the range, except at full idle, where it doesn't really matter anyway.
If the engines are tuned right and the plugs are good, they'll run fine without onboard glow drivers.
Those only add more weight, which according to some, is too high anyway.

Dick,
If they say the weight is to high on this 310 . what would they say about the nosen 310 whichwas designed around a pair of 60"s in which I had one and still do still have the airframe I just updated the enginges to a pair of os 1.08 but it flew fine on the 60's . I don't remember what the wing loading was for that airplane but my weighed around 30 lbs. with the 60's and flew fine. I admit there is more power with the 1.08 but I normally fly it about half thorrtle now .

Dick,
Did you "permanently" install the engine nacelles or just the frame?. You mentioned this in an earlier post so I wanted to make sure. I was thinking about making the frame permanent but not the nacelle itself. Did you use the CA hinge material supplied with the kit? Seems kind of flimsy. Also, thanks for the info on the tees for the gear. Those certainly fixed the problem. I have had the gear pumped up for about 4 days (so far) and it hasn't dropped any pressure at all except for the little bit I used to cycle them in order to test them in both positions.

The engine frames are bolted in as shown in the manual and the nacelles are also bolted in, like the book says.
I may want to do a little maintenance from time to time.
Yes, I used the CA hinges. I never had one fail so far.
Robart point hinges may be better, but there's not enough material in the wing or ailerons to provide ufficient surface area to grip onto.
Plenty, though, on the flaps.

Hey Allen,
I have just barely got it going. Working on the right wing as per the instructions. I'm one of those that just follow the instructions and back that up with a little experience when I need to. After using Ultracoat this Monokote thing is interesting. Seems like it needs a lot more heat to get it to shrink enough to smooth things out. Any tips? I am in the process of breaking in the 50s. Put about 30 minutes on them yesterday and plan to put another 30 minutes on them today then start tuning them up. Breaking them in on an APC 11x6 and will fly them on an APC 12x6. After that I plan to try Master Airscrew 11x7 3-blades and Graupner 10x7s. I have the engines mounted on a Cox Pica Dualist to finish the breakin in the air and try all the different prop combos.

rick,
just keep doing what you are doing with the monocote and maybe use a glove or soft towel to run over it to help put it down. It takes more heat than most coverings. I'm with you about taking your time and do one step at a time that's me to. I used to have a man do all my building but he passed away a couple of years ago so now it's all on me and it takes me alot longer than most.but I'm want to get this in the air so maybe that will make the difference.
keep me up on how its going.
