I to will be using Saito 82's. The 310 is on the board . It has not flown as yet so I am unable to to tell you how well it flys. Size wise the engines should fit . If you get to the engines in and ready to go please send me a EM on how well these engines fit and ran. Thanks Bill Downs. [email protected] FOREVER

Hi Michael,
The Evolution .52's fit perfectly, no issues. I find the power to be very good. I have had one or two engine out's but they have always been on the downwind leg so I didn't have to try to climb with one engine, just maintain and then descend to a landing. I had no problems handling the model in that situation.
I put 12x6 APC's on it this weekend and I think that's the prop for this set-up. I'm using the Bisson Pitts muffler with the Lex-Aire extensions. They seem ideal.
I'm on 21 flights so far, and loving it!

Tim,
It very important that you ordered the "e" type props. The standard apc will do you no good. The camber at the root of the "e" props and the taper is what makes these efficient. You will see that this is not the case with conventional props. So dialing in the diaxpitch only, will not give you the right numbers. Are you using Motocalc?

Tim,
If you paint the props, be sure to balance them after you are done painting. I have used clear enamel spray on the back of the "light" blade to balance a painted prop without scuffing out xtra material on the "heavy" blade.

electric?.. very interesting.. what was your duration and how many mah did it take to recharge the batteries?
Zinger props are a waste of time in electrics.. any kind of APC will be nice, sport or electric (except slow fly props).. if you want a wood prop try the master airscrew series, Tower sells them.. rework them a bit, sharpen the trailing edge, smooth out the leading edge then thin down the airfoil shape a bit.. then rebalance carefully. Just as efficient as APC but much less prop noise at the 1000watt level.
Zingers are good if you rework them, good starting stock but lots of sanding dust.
Do you think 1000watts per side is enough?

OK guys,
Pick mine yesterday. Beautifull airplane and impressive box. I have already start building, because I took the time to READ THE ENTIRE THREAD in a couple of weeks ago. Very usefull. Thanks to everyone who posted.
I leave in a small country, so I was lucky enough to find a couple of OS 50 SX. New stuff takes some time to get here, so old stuff keeps longer time. I already got the Bissons mufflers, but would like to get the lex-air extensions. I have notested that the seller only sells to the US. Anybody knows where can I pick 4 of these or give me some dimension drawings to make these myself?
Also I am trying to take some of the lead up in the front but this is becoming a hard to do. I read something about that in a older post. I believe if I put the battery packs up in the front I can save some wheight by taking out some of the lead. Any ideas how to do that in a easier way?
Also there were some questions about the tight fit of the fuel tanks. I am planning to put another ones or is this avoided by scraping some wood and put some silicone? Anyway 420c.c. seems quite good for the .50. Something arround 350c.c., should work for 15 min.
I will wait for the Robarts and also planning to put the working doors with air cilinders.

RE: Top Flite Cessna 310 posted
how many watts are you pulling with the APC 15x8 props?.. and this power level is fine for flying off grass?, do you wish you had more?
If I understand correctly, you are using two 3s packs per nacelle in series, each pack is 5000mah so you essentially have a 6s 5000mah pack per nacelle.. and after a 12 minute flight it took 2200 to recharge one of the 6s pack.
Are you using one or two chargers?, yes one charger would take forever. It sounds like 5000mah batteries are too much, you could get over 20 minutes of flight time with them. You probably could save some weight with 3000mah packs and still fly 12 minutes. It is good to have an excess of juice.
is the flight speed adequate with the 15x8 props?.. they definitely have a lot of thrust to get off the grass.
Video would be nice to show electric deniers

Herm,
Are you the same Herm that flies with Cubano?
Check over at the other site, RCGroups, conversion to electric forum, Cessna 310 thread, started by Bruff. Based on what I read, Bruff is the person that knows about converting to electric. After checking in over there you will see who did what conversion, and also who is an expert at what.
Sometimes, things posted just don't seem to add up.

RE: Top Flite Cessna 310 posted
yes Herm, it turned into the Tiny Tim thread and it seems like we all are dancing through the tulips. LOL
It seems that one minute a guy knows nothing about electric conversions, the next minute he is an expert with 12 minute run times on 5000mah lipos and 110 Eflite motors powering a 24lb Cessna 310. Then the same guy turns 4 of us into the mods for laughing when he complains about being called by his own nic name.
What is wrong with this picture?
If anyone want electric information on conversions, try the other site, RCgroups, there are so many active threads in the conversion forum that are so full of info, that it's almost impossible to keep up.
