It would seem your decision might be based on choosing a scale that gives potential buyers the best opportunity of adding "after market" details to your ARF. WingSpan is producing the lovely full build B-17F/G kit that includes a host of very nice "upgrade" parts, .50cal MGs, turrets etc. And of course, the popular American Eagle kit at 120" offers some nice choices too.
Few buyers want their models to look exactly the same as every one else's. Give your customers an opportunity to customize your ARF and I think you can take advantage of this desire and the existing B-17 kit supply infrastructure. Which ever scale you choose, it would seem wise to offer the kit in both aluminum and olive drab finishes with as many marking styles as you can afford.
regards,
langerl

Hi Nchouker,
Slightly off topic question but related one, i am still waiting to hear from you guys about your B52 model, i have sent emails Ceder hobbies multiple times with no replies, are you still in process of making B52 edf AFR or not.
As for B17 i'd prefer 1/9th scale at 138" Wingspan, its closer to Don Smith's B17G and both could share parts and options being close enough, i friend of mine have built Dons B17 and its up for sale, i am considering buying it but if you can provide your info with pictures and price, then you may have a chance too, Personally i prefer Polished Aluminum finishes over green camo finishes anytime.

as per the 138'' or the 125'', i think the bigger the better. everyone loves the big ones!!!! are you going to have olive or the aluminum??? i am on the waiting list for this plane. i can't wait to see some kinda pic.
do you have any pic. or something to even just get a little look at what it will be little.
if it's going to be 138", what engines will be needed for it then. also what will the wt. be on it fully complete and ready to fly--aprox.?????

Saw a few B17's framed up on the vendors row at Joe Nall yesterday, one was huge, at least 12 foot long!

Dear Cedar Hobbies,
I think the size that 4 30 size fourstroke engines would fly would best. These are a cheap reliable set of powerplants. Also, people could use 25 size two strokes. This would have wide appeal. If you go bigger, I'd suggest a plane that could use .40 to .46 size two strokes. Again, these are cheap, popular and easy to get.
A friend has a 100" Lancaster that is overpowered with 4 such engines. So I'd figure the smaller size 125" would be perfect.

Uhhh....the current 78" wingspan B-17 is designed around .25-35 2-strokes. Theres no way a 125" B-17 will fly on 4 .30 size 4-strokes. Sorry. Not gonna happen. The weight of the plane will be well over 35 pounds at 125". Please, check the gallery at rcwarbirds.com ( http://www.rcwarbirds.com/Bombers/bombers.htm ) and do some research on what engines can carry what. If you want a plane to fit around .25 2-strokes, look into 80-100" or so wingspan.....since Cedarhobbies already has a B-17 at 78-81", there you go. People looking to build a 125" B-17 are not looking to skimp to save a few bucks. .30 4-strokes would never get it off the ground
The average B-17 listed on rcwardbirds in the same size as the 125" Cedarhobbies is 123". The average engine used is 4 x .72 4-strokes. A few use .65, and a few use .91 4-strokes, but most use .72.

RE: CEDAR HOBBIES NEW 125 INCH B-17 coming
to cedar hobbies......
i recently got a message from someone stating that you guys really dont have a b-17 coming out that large!!!! at first i didn't believe him, but as time goes on i am starting to wonder if you really do have this plane. this person said that if it sounds to go to be true then most likely it's not true. if you really have this plane in the works you would think you have something to show. a frame or something. you have one your web site a b-52 as a frame. i was just wondering if you could show pictures of that plane in a frame. why cant you show the b-17. and why will you not tell everyone how big it is going to be. some people like to do some research before buying a plane of that size. i dont even know what i will need for it such as engines, radio gear and any scale items!!!!
so i think you should release something about it. and i am sure your gone tell me to wait. but i think we all waited long enough. SO SOMETHING OR GIVE MORE INFO ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you
