I have replaced my spring air/home made landing gear with Sierra Gear. The difference is huge. I seriously doubt you can tear this gear up, it is incredibly stout and well made.

My )V-10 is electric. Two e-flite Power.60 on 10S driving 15" props, I don't remember what pitch.

Here are a couple of pilot pics from my recently aquired 80" Bronco built by Gains Smith from his own plans and canopy.
Gains does awesome work. This is an electric version. I believe the pilots were Blue Box or equivilant figures. Will find out.

Thanks for the ATTABOY. The pilots were from a cheap set of action figures I found at our local Big Lotts discount store. I cut off the bottom sections and glued the tops to the cockpit floor. They are bit heavy compared to some of the model pilots available but they look scale like. Plus they are forward of the CG where we need the weight for balance.

Elevator to flaps are not listed. Just use a degree or two on elevator until It satisfies you.

Wake up !
My 80" is sleeping in boxes since years for a lot of reasons...
= batteries were too heavy... NiMh...
= motors were too expensive... Plettenberg...
= retract (with Sierra stubs) were too weak...
Time brought solutions :
= a123 pack
= Hacker A60-6xs motors
= electric retract
= time to build after finishing my H9 Spitfire

Paul, Are you flying with 10s for each motor or is that 5s for each motor making 10 in total. Thanks, John

Hey Rich, With all the love I've been giving my Bronco, I removed all the weight from the nose to "compact" it. I cant find my plan sheet the gives my the CG. I would assume it's at the main spar, but if you would, can you give the the exact or best measurement for the CG? (Thanks is advance)

Destroyer, I had a couple of small issues with the Sierra gear. The left main gear cylinder had a small air leak with the gear down; make sure you do a pressure test to see how long the system can hold pressure (in the gear up and gear down positions). Second, the main gear struts have a threaded cap on top that probably should have some blue thread locker (#242) on the threads. One main strut collapsed on touch down when a strut cap unscrewed on mine. After the fixes, mine have worked flawlessly.

Kim, my 80" Bronco had a slight nose down attitude with roughly 30 degrees flaps. That worked for me, so I didn't add any elevator mixing.

CanDo, thanks for the heads up on the caps needing thread locker. I sure like this gear. I made a pretty hard landing last week an the gear absorbed all the energy. The plane simply shrugged off a crappy landing. I did have to build new and heavier foundations to install the Sierra Gear I 'm sure that helped a little.

I have a new in Box 80" ARF version complete with the cockpit kit, and Retracts. I fly at 4,000 ft. altitude so we loose about 12% power here. What motors are you guys running or what do you recommend. I am open to Electric, Gas 2 or 4-strokes, Nitro 2 or 4-strokes. I was thinking about a couple of 10cc (.61) or 15cc (.91) Gas models or just go with Nitro..?? Any recommendations..??

I had a couple of 70 four strokes(Magnums I think) in my ARF.Awesome performance.That was years ago.I'd like to build another,I guess we can order a kit from Rich on his site now?

Prop_Washer2, I put OS .91 4-strokes in my 80" OV-10. My plane weighs 19lb and I have ~16lb of static thrust. Near sea level, this plane has a lot of vertical performance! I figure I have enough power to get back home if I lost an engine. Whatever you choose, make sure they are reliable engines and tune them carefully.

I am thinking about selling my 81" ARF NIB with Retracts in an effort to thin my herd. Right now I have around 65 NIB ARF's ..and I simply do not have enough room to even put them together. Maybe someone on this thread may be interested, or I'll have to throw it on EBay should I decide...any thoughts..??

Thinning out a collection can be a good thing but keep in mind, do it carefully!
If your collection is anything like mine, once you sell that kit/ARF you may never get another one. Just about all the ones i have are long out of production and it would be hard to get one back if i were to change my mind later.

if I didn't already own the large Bronco I would be interested in yours...

Good advice. Shipping costs can be pretty significant for larger planes too. Sometimes it makes sense to take all the useful components (batteries, servos, motors) out and take the rest to a swap meet.
BTW, I may also be looking at scrapping or selling a couple of planes; our local giant scale field is about to be permanently closed and next closest big field is hours away.
