RE: KMP F-7 Tigercat Build
Stalllion,
I was going to put Saito 90 Radials in mine but today I picked up a mate to my MVVS 26. I think I'm going gasser!
Too bad mine won't be here until May!

RE: KMP F-7 Tigercat Build
Moving the sevo around will not help...no wood in the area...gona have to use the control horn retainers instead of the screews. I stuck a pin through the skin to try and locate the blocks and its about 1/4"away from where it needs to begin.and about 1"short.only other option is cut into the skin a put a bock in

Linkman, I found poor glue joints in the nacelles as well, some areas had no gule at all. Also, I have at least one broken cross member, very fixalbe though. Had the idea of "painting" most of the wood structure I can get at with 30 min. epoxy, then hitting it with a hair dryer or heat gun carefully to let the glue soak the wood like a sponge fo added strengh and peace of mind.

Rcalbu, The problem of basically no wood where you need it for anchoring the control horns is an ugly issue with this plane. I had to filp flop surfaces, and reverse servo mounts to find what worked, but didn't have to cut into the skin and add wood. I talked to A. Kondor at the Toledo show about this and his reply was" cut them open and install blocks". I wouldn't do this unless there was absolutly no other fix.Hope you can find the solution. Hey A. Kondor, how about shpping all of us ones that work?

I've come to expact problems with kits lfrom this Co. The instructions are the first clue. But I knew this going in and will overcome and still believe its a good value. This plane is so good looking it will be worth the extra workonce complete.
I'm going to open it up and put some wood blocks in[>:]

Rcalbu, Should give your bird plenty of zip. I'm still waiting on a pair of g-26's. Wonder if Chip Hyde mounts are avalable for the g-26.

RE: KMP F-7 Tigercat Build
I finished mounting engine #2 tonight. Both throttles hooked up and set. Fuel tanks and fuel fill mounted. Went with dubro 10oz tanks. With the Zenoah 20 you don't destroy the cowl. I rotated the case on one engine so the exaust is out board on both motors. Next job is to mount the nose gear door. I looked at hinging the main gear doors and this may be a real problem. If any one has figured out how to do this please let me no. Untill next time.

jddickers, lookin' good.
Mine just arrived today. Can't wait to leave the pesky office to go home and check it out!
How much flying time do you "guesstimate" with the 10oz. tanks?

Your planes are coming along nicely gents! I have both motors mounted and throttles hooked up. The project will have to go on hold for a week or so. I need to get the RV ready and do a little practicing for the Sin City IMAC next week Anyone here going!

JD, Your tank mount looks like a winner, the mind boggles on where KMP's factory's thinking was designing this plane around two 8 oz. tanks. Sure has made alot of unessassary work for the customer. The g-20 looks like a good fit, hope 10 oz. tanks are enough. I'm installing a pair of g-26's. Here's some pics of the install... T-cat bros, Don't forget to sand off the paint before gluing the wing panels and nacelles together. Check pic.

I noticed in the picture you may have hooked your throttle linkage to the supplied arms. I tried this on my KMP B25 with the same engines and even with throttle expo it was very touchy during landing. I switched using two Dubro throttle arms and installed them on the bottom of the throttle shaft this made a very linear and smooth throttle transition throughout without expo.

RE: KMP F-7 Tigercat Build
Thanks for the input on the throttle linkage. VK the report on the G-20 said that 20 would run 15min. on 8oz. so the 10oz I put in should give me a little cushion. Yes you are right about all the extra work we are having to do. I Hope some is reading all our post and will pass it on to the factory. I started working on the nose gear door and it is not going to be fun. It looks like it is going to be the trial and error method. So far a lot of error's. I don't no about the rest of the builders but I HATE GEAR DOORS. We may have to for get hinging the main doors. VK Please post pic when you get the cowls cut for the 26's I was afraid the cowls would have to be cut up to bad. Thats why I went with the 20's

Vk engine mouts looking good, it's making me feel like my 170 R's will fit pretty nice, I hope to find out tomorrow that is when my T-cat should be arriving. Just in time for the weekend! If we all went the the RCV engines there would be no cutting on the cowl, however, it seems most of us are not satisfied with staying in the ordinary.

RE: KMP F-7 Tigercat Build
JD, I mocked up my t-cat before i bought my g-26's and found the plane to be very tail heavy. I also talked with AKondor at the toledo show and he said magnum .91's were used on the prototype and weight had to be added to the nose to balance the bird. He didn't say how much, but after seeing how tail heavy my bird was mocked up with no landing gear( mains are aft of CG), and the manual shows the battery aft of CG as well, I made the decision for the g-26. Also, the thought of glow fuel at $15 plus a gallon and glow goo (yuck) and finding the g-26 at Chief Aircraft at $269 (no tax or frieght), the choice was made. Also, I was pleasently supprised to find out with the stock mount that comes with the g-26, the standoff dim. (5.313) is right there. Coencidence, or did KMP actually build the plane around this engine? (Wolf in sheep's clothing)
