Well I've got one now and most things look ok, But instructions are pretty bad ,( I thought they were going to post on thier web site an up dated version))) where to glue and some steps are out of order but you do what you got to do \ there is no list of what's needed Type of servos, servo Extensions, etc... missing parts and miss aligned things. the kit had a couple of broken parts but i'll deal with that at the local Hobby shop. but all in all and with changing all the hard where i hope i can get it to gether for our fall float fly( my only holiday 4 days of fun),, I'm into it for three days now and I'm still debating on motor size (due to availability at the local hs) got to head to the lhs to buy some parts oh they were missing fom the kit......

OK guys... lets hear it! How did you like the CL-215? I love my KMP Beaver (albeiet an older, second hand version) I have been keeping my eye [:-] on this kit for a while now, and am anxious to see how it works out.
Andrew.... how about a little more info about the kit. Your website link to the CL-215 is a little vague at best. Need some pictures of the actual plane / kit.

it flies!!! after 7 sleepless nights of building ,a few changes, and a lot of thought, it flies at our annual float fly at Clear lake Alberta Canada, I picked up the Kit on a Tuesday afternoon after a lunch with a few of the guys from our club,at my favorite hobby shop saw the kit and walked out with it. after opening it up and surveying everything (I really didn't know what i got myself into but being determined i started) . sorry no build pics but the end result was well worth it.It was at the 11 th hour that i did the CG and packed it into the trailer and headed out to the lake, (new plane, new engines ,new radio). How determined is that!!Got to the Camp unloaded and set up everything looked Good.. with the help of Al R. we ran up the engines 2 tanks each worked great 2 OS 55 2Strokes. did a range with engines running 2.4 JR 9303 all was fine . next was a taxi test going going oops Take off Oh well might as well keep going trim was minimal just down elevator reset the elevator after the flight. looked awesome, sound awesome, and flies great a real presents in the air. here are a few pics of the CL 215 at the float fly .. by the way we had over 25 pilots and probably 75 plus air craft it was great 3 days of non stop flying for all thanks to MOFFA. (Mostly Old Float Fliers Association) for holding a great event i think i had 4 flights on the CL 215, 3/4 gal of fuel for run ups and flights , well worth the effort, kmp you got a winner here.. Thanks Les for bringing in the kit

the last pic is a jet powered Northstar by Len with smoke awesome flyer

Looks good Rick, well done. Glad to see I am not the only one obsessed with building all hours of the night.
Hope to see you Sunday with the FW. The P-47 is just itchin for a chase.

a couple more pics before it gets put away until spring comes. it will give me a chance to go over everything and make any necessary changes. one thing in the instructions is the wing one piece or two? it doesn't tell you to glue them together so i went with two piece for transporting but I'll have to look into it more it flew okay this way with no erratic flying and structurally it seems fine any comments to this would be appreciated

Rick

So there only 2-3 of these out there? Is there another thread anywhere with more "in-depth" info in building-modifying-electric etc...

Hi Greg: I know of a customer who is running with with E-flite 32 motors and he says he can cruise around at half throttle with ease. He is using one 4S 5000 Mah pack. I have his number at my office.

Hey guys I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these and want to go with the RCV engines. Big question is will the 60 RCV haul it around on one engine, or will it be a nail-biter trying to circle around to land? If i go with the 90's it will make the plane about 1# heavier, but I'm pretty sure single engine would be no sweat. Unsure if having the extra power is worth the weight.

60 Sp's are perfect.... (both power and fit) 90 are way too large!

Hi Andy, a few posts ago you mentioned the guy with the E-Flite 32s. Im surprised that those motors fly it well. Any chance to have him share some info on this forum?

Any word on the Goose?

Well...after receiving my CL-215 last year, I was so excited to start the build. Alas, work and a trip overseas postponed my build till now. I started last night by closely examining all the components. There was minor damage that I missed when I first received the aircraft last year but nothing I can't handle. I had a broken former on the left engine nacelle. I clamp the ply former back into shape and soaked the damaged area with CA. Then I mixed some epoxy and fuel-proofed the entire nacelle. I also attached the flap and aileron surfaces. No problems there. I am starting to wonder what length servo extensions I will need. For the aileron, which is the most further outboard, I measured a 4 foot extension if I place the receiver where the instructions show. I am debating placing the receiver under the wing mounting area to cut down on the long extensions. If I do this, then it only needs 3 foot extensions but I will need to do a preliminary weight and balance to see if it adversely affect the CG listed in the instructions. I plan on using a Futaba 14 channel 2.4 gHz receiver. It's pretty light. Here are some photos of last night's work.
