Bumsteer

Please post any advice or pictures you may have on the build up of the wing. I unfortunately have never done this before so could use a lot of help. I've actually never built a kit nor have I ever done any sheeting but definitely want to do whatever is necessary to build it right. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey Guys! I have extra composite wing panels, with the corrected dihedral. These are the epoxy composite outboard wing panels for the KMP B25. Anybody need them? Make me an offer I can't refuse. Shipping from Los Angeles.

spaul813,

You can see some photos of the wing repair. Look at post 1015 by me.

Repair of the wing should be done from the bottom as it will be easier.

Let me know what questions you have, I will be happy to help.

spaul813,

I'll add that you should do the "upgrade" before you assemble the wing. That's the simplist time to do it, as apposed to me, who waited. My wing fail on flight #9 on a somewhat harder than normal landing. Since the repair I have had a few of the same landings with no trouble.

Cheers,

Eldhwr 13 or anyone else with an answer.

Who can tell me about the droopy wing tips. Specifically, how do i correct the problem or how do i go about getting a replacement? I'm told its cosmetic but i'm a little bit anal and want it to be correct. Thanks for any and all help.

Only first run kits had droopy wings. This was fixed in later runs.

If you bought yours recently, then you should be fine. To test this just dry assemble the wing. The tips should be roughly parellel to the ground. Onfirst run kits they drooped very noticably.

Hi F82FAN
Can i ask you what retracts you are using in your B-25 and are they a drop in fit?. I'm at the stage of deciding what ones to go for but have read about the KMP ones not being very good.
Any help much appreciated
Regards
Styk

Hi Guys,
BOTH the wing and the retracts broke...
The wing center section broke on the initial landing and the retracts work a few times (the nose gear broke in 3-different places before I finally chucked it) before needing replacement.
The retracts I have in there now are Century Jet, which are essentially drop-in.
Maybe just a few seconds with a Dremmel drum sander, but not much...
I got them from Tomas @ vqwarbirds.com

The video is on my youtube vids.
Just search "f82fan B-25 maiden"
It wasnt a bad landing for the first one, but the entire center section twisted and broke.

The airplane is a beautiful flyer - once you get think sorted out.
Just spend the time and $$$ to do it right, or you will HATE the gear!!!

If anyone knows of someone looking for this bird, I have one I need to sell. New in box with Century Jet retracts. Cockpit kit and also have a spare set of composite wing tips and scale set of wheels. Have about $1300 in it, looking to get $1000 out of it and will split the shipping cost with the buyer. Any interest out there?

F82Fan-
That is a beautiful B-25. I am hoping to get one of these in the not to distant future. My H9 B-25 is getting a little long in the tooth and I would like to build a Doolittle version of ESM B-25. One thing on yours...your oleos are facing the wrong direction on your mains and nose gear. Hope I can make one that looks as nice as yours...excellant job!

Hi Tevans,
Thanks for the props on the 'Dream"
I think the nose strut couldn't be done the other way due to its construction and the mains may have been the same because of the aircraft structure.
I will have a look
Thanks!
Wally

P.S. If you are even CONSIDERING getting one of these, you would be WELL served to get the one listed above...
It is a GONGA deal with all of the goodies that it comes with - especially those C.J. gear. I'm thinkin HARD about having a new Glass nosed version to add to the fleet so ya better get on it!

Wow...there's no pressure in this group! Thanks for the encouragement guys. I am going to give this one a good hard think. I want to build this bird really bad. I am really enjoying my H9 B-25. I just put brakes on it last month.

Theres NO pressure just like theres no oil spewing from a hole in the G.O.M.......
We just tell it like it is on this thread - ask any of us that have built n flown her - she is awesome!
Hangar 9's are toys for kids in relation to the KMP line. Lot's of work but WELL worth it.

If I had the $1,000 I'd do it, but since I already have one, plus the Bf-110, plus the F7F, plus the FW-190, plus the F8f....
Let's say I DO know Tomas.....

Full disclosure: I don't own any wells in the G.O.M. and I have never met spaul813

Has anyone fitted lights to one of these? What did you use?

I should be picking one up from YT in the next couple of weeks, I'd like to see the correct positioning of the lighting?

thanks

I might do lights also, since so far most all of my giant scale planes have lights on them. Like usual, I'm going with the Electrodynamics lighting system.

I too would like to know where and what lights are on the B-25.
