What's the biggest prop that will fit this plane? Scale size would be 18" for this size B-25. Looking for my next ARF bash project and this looks interesting. Landing gear clearance is fixable, but if a scale prop won't fit between the nacelle and fuselage then that's going to be a problem for me.

Is the issue with excessive anhedral fixed now?

Howdy. I have a pair of ASP 180 4 strokes on my beast and to absorb the power I have used Biela 3 blade props
16x8 These give the model plenty of power and also keep the engine revs in check.
As you have pointed out - 18" props are scale size. I have about 1 1/2" of clearance to the side of the fuse. You could fit an 18" prop but you would have to use a very rigid engine bearer to ensure it stayed exactly put.
To address your other query. The anhedral look to the outer wing is a little bit of a case of your eyes playing tricks. Due to the foil shape and taper of the wing structure - it would appear that the wing does indeed droop down towards the wingtip. However - if you look at the mean chord line of the outer wing panel you should find that it will run horizontal from the match joint on the nacelle. On my model at least - this was the case. I have been flying mine for almost 2 years now and love it. I researched the anhedral thing in the early days and found that it really only was a problem on the first run of the series and also on the carbon wing option. Although I have never seen a carbon option for sale anywhere.. Hope this helps and if you do buy this model then a series of build photos would boost the flagging interest in this thread.

Hi, is there anything else I must do on this airframe? I heard some issues with CG, is there a common idea of where this should be? One last thing for now, what is the measurement from the points where the wing outer panels attach to the airframe? I want to see if it will fit in my car without disassembling it further. In addition to beefing up the center section there are several good suggestions for better ways to attach the outer wing panels. I'm using an aluminum dowel in the outer wing towards the trailing edge that extends into the wheel well. I secure it with a wire clip. It's quick and secure. If you read through the forum you'll see the CG at the recommended point - 85mm measured from the leading edge at the fuselage side if I remember correctly. Again if I remember correctly mine comes in at ~114mm back from the LE so there is some flexibility.

The width of the center section is just under 35" but if you use a 3-bladed prop you'll to want to have 40"-43". Hope that helps. Good luck with the build.

Bumsteer, thanks for the very helpful info. The delivery has slipped until Saturday afternoon now, so the anticipation is killing me...I really like the idea of the alloy dowel and the ability to use clips, It will make transport much better. What is your all up flying weight? And what reinforcements have been done to the center section? Did you add a bomb bay? I am curious if anyone else out there has made theirs electric, as I am going to. I saw a video of one in Thailand but no specs were given of any use. I am deciding weather to use E-flight power 60's or power-90's at the moment, if I go with the 60's i can then use my 6's packs of which i have a few, but if I go with the 90's that will mean 8s or in my case four 4s packs for each flight, which is alot of batteries tied up at once. I would rather go with the 6s setup as it will also be lighter, but i am afraid that it might not have the grunt i want. I am initially going to fly it with fixed gear, as funds do not permit both expensive running gear and landing gear all at the same time, and I really want to get it into the air sooner rather than later. I have a 120" ASM B-17 that i need to sell as well at the moment, so once that goes, I can go wild on the B-25. Again, Thanks for the help. Oh wow, Loveland CO, I used to go prairie dog spotting up there(we were supposed to be hunting them, but we never hit one once! tricky little buggers) Back in 1993 when i was stationed at Lowry AFB in Aurora Colorado!

I refinished mine over the winter and added a bit of weight so it now weighs 29 lbs. with two Saito 180s converted to gas for power. I don't have a bomb release but another local flyer does and his weighs just over 30 lbs. The airframe can handle the weight. I can't speak to the electric power so I will let others chime in.

I will tell you it would be WELL worth your time to review the entire forum. There are plenty of photos and comments about the upgrade of the center section, wing attachment and other tips worth incorporating into a new build.

Well I have now officially read the whole thread....and I am still going ahead! Katniss have you installed the power 160's? they sound huge for this bird. Once i weigh this thing out on Sunday I will start doing more calculations for required power. Thanks for all the help Guys!

Power 60s will not be enough. I have those on an esm me-110 and it's adequate on 6s. However, flight times are barely 5 mins with two 6s 6000 man batteries and that plane only weighs 21 pounds. Prop size is 16x10
I have the esm fw190 D9 with a rimfire 65cc on 12s and it's a good match. Plane weighs 24 pounds.
So.... My esm b25....it weighs 33 pounds. Two power 60s wouldn't even get it off the ground and if it did, it's be full throttle until it stalled trying to turn.
You need to calculate watts per pound of at least 80 for safe flying on a bomber. Plus, you're limited in prop diameter due to ground clearance, so you need some grunt to spin the 16" Max diameter props fast enough to get enough thrust without setting the batteries on fire.
I will be using 16x12 props or vario-props with 15.75 diameter and adjustable pitch. I might try 16x10 3blade MAS props since I know those will fly the plane on saito 150s. I just need to get the rpms around 7500 to match up with Eldher13s b25. We both have air brakes and similar retracts.

Power 90s on 8s might work OK if you can keep the weight down. Power 110s on 8s would work nicely too.

I just got a package from Nick Zirolli parts, some nice robart lines and quick disconnects, as well as some vacuum formed radial engines. The esc's and servos should be here this week as well, so it should be a good weekend! Cant wait to get started on the build, but juggling projects at the moment with five on the go at once! I know i need to downsize my hangar, but there are just some things a man does not do quickly, and that is one of them.

Well I finally got some time to work on the B-25, quite a lot got done over the four day break. I even had a chance to see if it would fit in my car, which thank goodness it does! I am so relieved.


Happily moving ahead, still waiting on motor selection once i know what the weight will be with all of my accessories and batteries in it.

If anyone needs scale M2 machine guns for this plane, I can get them...$15-20 a piece. They are really nice 3d printed versions. They are available with or without the handles so they can be used in turrets or other positions, and just the barrels are available as well for $10 a pair. They can be scaled up or down no issue. Mine in the photo are 15 and 16cm long.

Is there any difference in the KMP and the ESM B 25, seems very similar or the same plane. I just acquired one built with servos but never completed or flown. I am not really into twins and can make someone a good deal if interested.
