I think you will be happy you converted to gas. Here is a photo of my inverted DLE 20 setup.

The Dubro mounts work fine. I don't really know if they help or not. The vibration seems about what I expected. When I was breaking in my engines (on the ground) the bullets kept falling out of the cartridge belts in the nose turret. I had to run a bead of clear silicone under the belt to hold them in place. I also had the screw fall out of the steering servo. I thought I had lock tighted everything but this plane will let you know when you miss lock tighting something. Better on the ground! I ran the engines on the ground for 6 hours before I flew it just to get the engines running well and together. This plane was my first adventure with gas engines so I was in a major learning mode. Fortunately I had already been flying a H9 B-25 for about 5 years and I knew the importance of a reliable engine setup.

I added a spacer on each side of the nose wheel and the main gear fit fine in my plane. The other option is to add wood. When my retracts don't fit I usually like to add some hardwood on each side of the retract. What size are your tires...they look great?

FYI, I called TBM and the EMS company is moving into a bigger facility. Then they have to setup to do production. It will be conservatively 3 months before the backorders can be filled. The B 25 is a popular seller and they will probably get 10 to 15 in 3 months. There are currently about 14 on the waiting list. You can get on the list with no deposit required.

I don't have any plates and I wouldn't use them again. It's much easier and a stronger setup to add hardwood to fit around the retracts.

Hey guys, Ok, so I got the retracts in, put in some 6mm ply inbetween the plates that were already there and build up wood then topped it off with a 1/6in steel top plate with aropoxy.

So modds so far are, I ripped out the bottom of the center section and added a lot of wood and sealed it back up.

I have not figured out how to better secure the wings yet, but have not got that far yet.

My question, what eles has been a problem area?

Anyone have issues with there fire walls? Im going with 2 ASP 180 4c ,

Thanks Mike

I sent them an email about the b25 and they said it was out of stock. That was two weeks ago.

You might to check again at ARFPROS. The B-25 was listed among their February receipts and showed stock available on the website as of today.

Mike-
I would use some of that Aeropoxy around the edges of the firewall inside each nacelle and put some fiberglass in the Aeropoxy. It will help insure that the fiberglass nacelle is well bonded to the firewall. Also if you look closely to the engine photo in post 1326 you will see I added four yellow pieces of nyrod to hold my cowl screws. The nyrod is glued to a much stronger part of the nacelle because of the addition of the Aeropoxy and fiberglass strengthening of the firewall. I also would strengthen the wing tubes inside the nacelle as well...I had one come loose probably from vibration. I also had several places in the nacelles where the wood was not bonded well to the fiberglass nacelle. I used red Permatex on those areas. Hope this helps!

Just saw this on Century Jets Youtube site. Bruce made an electric setup for Sierra 118" B-25 retracts. The controller includes door sequencing, delay and landing lights. Looks like CJM can convert just about any brand to electric now.

I know its probably here in the thread some where.

Is the instruction manuals C G correct? Or what sort of C G is being used?

Any advice welcomed.

Cheers

It seems that the CG was one of the only things we didnt have an issue with!!! I believe that on about page 10 after first test flight we were really happy with the balance and flying properties.
Wish I could remember exactly but its been about 6-years.... Cant believe its that long ago! I still highly recommend the bird - even with the troubles of the early kits and the crappy gear.
It really was a fantastic warbird. Very easy to fly and a total crowd pleaser!
enjoy....

Thanks mate, I ve got a droopy wing version, but Ive pretty much overcome that with some packing.

So far the gear is working well, holding air indefinetly, altho I did change most of the air system to robart and intairco stuff.

Powered with Saito FG 21's seems to have plenty of pull on the ground, but not expecting it to be overpowered. I have turbine jets for that ; )

Really enjoying putting the detail on it, making the gunner bays and turrets. Looking fwd to flying her soon.

So to confirm CG from the book is good, anf the control throws?

Cheers

Cosmo21-
The CG is fine although I flew mine a little nose heavy for the first several flights for safety. The throws are also fine although I added a little extra elevator to mine after several flights. I also mixed 6 clicks of down trim in the elevator when the wheels retract due to the weight of the CJM gear, robart wheels and brakes. It's a lot of weight moving aft when the wheels go up.
