Nice going there Allen, I have been told the Nosen 310 doesn't need flaps
but at a weight of around 30-35 pounds I would think that anything
that might help slow her down a bit would be helpful. I plan on having
flaps on mine also.
BTW I took my kit down yesterday and went throught the "Balsa Forest"
seperating the different parts for the flying surfaces to get things ready to
go as my glass fuselage & parts kit will be here on Wednesday, will order
the Roart gear for her after the 1st of the year, looks like I'll be powering
her with PTE36-R's.

Hi Allen, looks great.
Makes me wonder if I should think about flaps for my project.
Did you find the plane to be fast on landing? How much does your plane weigh?
Cheers, Terry.

RE: RE:
Bill,
Thanks, she lands great with out flaps but on the hot side my buddy says it is like landing a jet because she is so clean so if you have a hard surface runway it will roll forever. I only have around 500' of petro mat at my field so i am sure that it would roll right off into the rough grass at the end and that is what i am trying to avoid. you are right mine weighs right at 35lbs with all the batteries and such and since it is electric it lands at the same weight that it takes off with and that is different from everyone using glow or gas so my hope is that this does the trick. My problem is one down two more to go for i'am going to put them on all three of my nosen's. hope everyone has a great x-mas and finds all the parts for there 310 that they have been looking for. Terry i hope i answered all of your questions as well.

Got an e-mail from Greg @ G & L Hobbies yesterday and gave him a call,
my glass kit was ready for shipping, I ask how many fuselage and accessory
kits he had sold in the last 6 months. Was surprised to learn he has been
quite busy laying them up, he has had 4 this month and on average of 1 to
2 a month since mid summer, so I guess there will be a fleet of new Nosen
Cessna 310's in the air in the next year or two.

RE: RE:
Bill,
Thanks, I belong to several clubs from oklhoma and arkansas to iowa and the bare hill club is one from oklahoma. As you can tell with that on the side of the trailer i get asked for t-shirts and hats everyone thinks it is a strip club and i tell them that it is just a bunch of shirtless old men and that ends the conversation. The 310 on the side is my first one and now the electric one and he did do a great job on all of them for i have a corsair on the back door and a stinsion on the front of the trailer. We have a ball going to the different fly-inns in the summer it is always nice to see old friends and see all the different planes you would not get to see if you just stay home.

Got the G & L Hobbies Cessna 310 fuselage and accessories kit, delivered
Friday, very impressive size, been so long that I have seen the size of the
fuselage. Got the wood kit down and started sorting through the "die-crunched"
sheets to locate the wing ribs, stab & elevator and rudder parts, comparing
most to the parts drawings sheet, I find that I will probably be better off cutting
a whole new set of parts.
Has anyone that is building this beauty with the G & L fuselage got to the nose
gear retract installation as of yet? Some pics would be helpful here if you have
them.

RE: RE:
Hi Bill:
My glass parts are ordered but, won't be here for a few weeks.
I was thinking that I would mount the gear door hinges before I cut out the nose wheel gear doors. Thinking that this would be the easiest way to keep them aligned. I plan to use the robart gear door hinges.
I also thought I would lay up some glass on the outside of the gear door area on top of wax paper or saran wrap. This can be trimmed and used for a flange after the nose gear door opening was cut. It would be glued to the inside of the fuselage and the gear doors would come up against it.
Thinking out loud, Terry

Allen, I'm lovin' the flaps on your 310.
AmishWarlord, I never thought I'd see an un-built Nosen 310 on this planet.... good find.[8D]

The wood in that kit looks allot better than the wood I saw in an A&A kit at the hobby shop years ago.

boy wanted $500 for what he thought was a genuine Bud Nosen and not an AA Industries kit, he thought he knew
all bout this thing til he found out who I was, and then I told him a lot of the sheet wood was missing in the kit.
Had mine in the back of my Suburban and when I opened it up he about fell over when he saw the balsa forest in
the box. His "die-crushed" kit was worse than mine.

Hi Gang:
Been working on the Nacelle's, I've installed the Throttle and Choke servo's. Have the fuel tank mounted in the left side. Think it worked out nicely.
Cheers, Terry.

RE: RE:
Nose Gear angle.
Hi Bill, I didn't see where you got a reply regarding the nose gear angle. I have a side photo of my dad's 1967 310. Taking a measurement off the photo it shows about 105 degrees.
The Robart nose gear that they sell for the 310 shows a 100 degree angle, so I may have to look at mounting it with a additional 5 degree built into it.
Cheers, Terry.

3 hours to go and sitting @ $405
Yes the nose gear angle is 105 degrees and if you look closely Robart does have a retract unit that is 105 degrees but you have to addd a strut to it.
TooLow PM'd me with the correct angle.
http://www.robart.com/products/105-d...obostrut-ready
http://www.robart.com/catalog/secure...gs/640HDRS.pdf
If you go with the unit they show in the gear finder you will have to shim it with a 5 degree wedge.

There's a couple more shots.
We always had a positive comment while filing a flight plan in your country, they always liked the aircraft Red, White and Blue colour description.

RE: RE:
I almost bid on that 310 early on, but knew it would go for a healthy chunk-o-change! Man I would love to have one but I'd be afraid to build such a rare kit though?
