Nice cutting there Clavin. Putting the new style tubes in will make it alot better. Worth the extra work.

Amish, Ive done a few planes like you said. Some I just wanted to see how they flew before I invested in an expensive set of retracts. Easy to do with some 1/4" ply plates.

Hmm wife just yelled and said Whitney Houston has passed....man..I hate that....she was such a great singer. If she could have resisted the drugs...sigh..such a sad day.

Yes, Nice job on the cutting! That glue must have put up quite a fight...

Here is something I just found but might be a bit small for this airframe? Gonna keep an eye on them anyway and see how the reviews go

Those are only rated for 16 pound planes. Being Hobby King that means they can only safely handle an 8 pound plane.

I'm sure you're right on target AW. It's hard to tell sometimes with these things, not to mention they're a new product. It WOULD be nice to have to just run a couple servo extensions.

Update to a larger tube or carbon fiber tube. I get mine here www.tntlandinggear.com They make several sizes and types. You will have to do some more surgery on the wing to make them work But well worth it. I would just use 1 tube and socket and some alinement dowls at front and rear of wing rib, probably around 3/4 or 5/8 inch dia. wing tube.

Robart is coming out with some electric retracts "units by Down and Locked" soon!

I would go with the Robo Struts and the Fults plates for now and get the electric retracts later when they come out.

I see NUMB LOCK just get a set of Sierra Retracts in from Down and Locked, he posted a youtube vid on it. I can't wait for the new Robarts ones to come out!

Might be interested? My son is learning on the flight simulator and that would be cool to teach him to fly with for real. Easy to see[8D]

DWHORN wish you were around a couple weeks ago! I just finished up my formers and received an order yesterday of balsa. Got the 3/16"x 48" planking and some 1/4" x1/2" for the crutch. POOP!
If it's reasonable I still might consider in case I decide to do another in the future. I have enough wood laying around for ribs and things...

Warbirdguy, I bought a sheet of 1/4" ply from Woodcraft for $19.99 and some 1/8" 3-ply for even less. I will be going there again. I have enough ply for a few planes now!
Anyway it's finally Friday and I am ready to get something started on this. I think I'll start the crutch so I can begin the fuselage. Time to make some room in the shop.....WooHoo!

Not yet AW. My wife wont let me near that place LOL just have to figure out how to get there without her knowing :P I have looked the website over and plan on making an order real soon. Have another DC3 to frame up.

I busted another bandsaw blade on my OLD tradesman. Lowes has them for now, but seems that size is slowly going away. Trying to convince my wife I need a newer model. Maybe if I tell her the new blades are less than half the cost of the older ones that might do it LMAO.

Thanks guys,

I have 4 310's ,3 nosen's and i have the top flite 310 as well. the one that i have chosen to go has the most on it with retracts and brakes and cockpit. I do not want to sell her but i am sure that finding a place to keep her if we move is going to be a problem so that is why i will offer her up to the members of the club first for i know she would go to a good home with people who care about the 310.

Hi gang:

Spent the day installing the retracts in my wing, I'm pleased with how things worked out. The wheel you see in the photo's is a 5 inch that I borrowed from a buddy. I plan to order a set of 5" Dubro treaded light weight wheels.

Cheers, Terry.
