Wow, it has been quiet on here for a while. isn't this the building season??
I just ordered the giant retracts from HK to install on my 310.
Will post Pics of gear and install when I get them. As the nose wheel can be seen in pic it has a dual wheel set-up
That is the way I got it.. Not very scale so in go the retracts.

Well, it looks good would make a great canidate for an electric conversion. It kinda looks like a wing mfg but as you stated, its too small. Im at a loss. But, there are lots of people out there that take plans and blow them up or shrink them down to fit thier needs. It may not even be a kit. Just something scratch built. You might go and search rcscalebuilder.com they have pages of forums dedicated to builds of all types of scale planes. Might find some info there.

Good luck with it

Hello All

Started doing the install of HK's giant retracts. Pics show original gear, Then outline for the retracts, and the beginning
of cutting out to fit the retract and wheel. Right now it is rought cut and I plane on installing Balsa to enclose the
Retract cut out. I will beef up any areas that will need it. and figure out how to put covers on them might attact a 3/4
on the strut and a 1/4 spring loaded door for lower half of the wheel. Well anyway check out the Photos and will continue
to post more as progress is made.

You might take a look at these. Search back through posts and you will see some information on these retracts.

Hi gang, been out of circulation for a bit now due to health issues, but have
been looking in to see what is going on with the current builds and refurbs
that you all have been doing, just might be able to get, up and at it later in
the year. Hope everyone is having some decent flying weather, as it seems
to slow down on the thread this time of year, but fear not I will begin on my
Nosen Cessna 310 as soon as I can get these health issues under control.

I received an e-mail from another gentleman that has asked to become one of us
from Texas..........

I would like to welcome " texasgrandpaw" Nosen Cessna 310 club member #66.

Hop right in hear and introduce yourself, we are glad to have you join the group,
ask away on any questions that you have, there are several here that have tons
of experience on the Bud Nosen Cessna 310.

Also back on March 29th we celebrated our 4th birthday since the inception of this
online club and information thread here on RCU.............Let's keep it going for many
more, who knows how many more builders and people that admire this wonderful
creation that Bud Nosen gave to us those 30+ years ago are still out there..............

Hi Guys, i am or was a control line builder/sometimes flyer back in my youth and since my retirement,i have returned to building & sometimes flying r. c. airplanes. A while back a friend of mine had a yard sale and i bought a couple small planes and some other stuff. As i was paying out he told me that he had this big kit that he come by and never did have the time to do it and that he had decided to let me have it if i would build it. I found out that he was talking big alright, Bud Nosen 310cessna. It was a lumberyard like i had never seen I have the airframe all assembled and about half covered and have to give thought to which engines to use. I guess my first ? would be what to use there. I look forward to getting to know you all and thanks for letting me in,,,,,,,,Joe Edwards
P.S.i guess i got about 4 years of backlogs to read and hope to be a 310 expert by then..

Yes Joe the Nosen Cessna 310 kit is definitely a balsa forest or lumber yard. As far as engines go
in the glow engine arena, 120 4 strokes, are a stable bet asd long as you keep the weight down,
although most have updated and opted for gas motors in the 20 to 30 cc range is a good area with
the weight being in the 20-25 pound range. But as always it depends how detailed, retracts, and
other variables as to the final power choice you make for your plane. We also have one that is
electric powered with if memory serves me right 120 equivalent electric motors, don't recall the
battery make up right off.

Bill,

You are close they power 160's with 10 cell battery power for each. I also have one with the 120 4 strokes you talked about plus one with 40 cc gas all fly very well and yes joe I do have three nosen 310's plus a top-flite 310 as well that is why I say one is never enough.ask all the questions you want we will all chime in and get you the info you need. there is a lot of years of knowledge in is group and will help in anyway we can. Bill I hope your health continues on the mend for you we have missed you here.

Yeah, now this is the kinda stuff i am gonna need to know as all my experience so far is with single engine 46 range planes.  I have some electric trainer type that i have getting my skills up to par.  I like the easy flying of electrics but for my 310 i want to hear it fly.
I want to add my wish that you get well Bill and return to active duty!
Allen, i looked through your hanger and all i got to say is wow. you got some beautiful 310`s and  I know you are gonna be a big help to me and i appreciate it very much .
I am in the covering stage right now and next will probably be hinging. I have a greatplanes slot cutter and i have read a lot of different ideas on hinging. I been told that the hinges i been using on my little planes will be fine ,just more of them.  Also tell me about your servos, how many & where. I am not going to use retracts for this plane, i plan to keep it as simple as possible'
What do you guys thing of the gas motors HobbyKing sells. The prices are awfully tempting and most of this stuff is made in China anyway. i hear the dinner bell so i`ll close, thanks Guys,,,,,,,,,,joe
