Stand off scale JU52-3M
This is my Hanger 9 Super stick that I bought in 1998. In 2002 it was recovered and kit bashed a little. Last month the rear fuselage broke at the leading edge of the stab. The stab was only being held in place by the vert. fin. After removing the covering and fixing the fuselage. I thought this would be a good time for more kit bashing. My plan was to make a tri-motor. After looking at different books on tri-motors, I decided the JU52-3M would be the easiest. I downloaded a 3 view of the JU52-3M and started to figure a scale. I used the fuselage to get the scale of the wing and stab. For now, I'm not using any plans and I'm using "That looks about right".
The stab on the fuselage is to small and was removed. I a new stab and fin were build and installed. Then I added a top cabin and cockpit area. The Fuselage has been turned upside down to make it a low wing.
Spec.
Wing span 80.5"
Fuselage 52"
Stab 28"
Engines 1- OS 32F used
2 - OS 35Ax new

RE: Stand off scale JU52-3M
The wing has been cut down from 54" to 27". I plan to install tapered outboard wing panels.
I had to add pieces to the firewall to fit the 32 engine mount. Due to the holes for a 60 mount and the hole for the fuel tank. The firewall has been painted with Top Flite paint and the engine is installed.

RE: Stand off scale JU52-3M
I looked at the Ford Tri-motor but with the engines mounted below the wing, I thought this would be a lot more work to make a strong engine mount. I also looked at some of the Italian tri-motors and didn't like them very much. The JU52-3M had a longer run and was used more then any other tri-motor. It was used as an airliner, transport, and a bomber.

An update on the JU52.
I have installed top decking and cocpit windows. Now the fuselage is ready for final sanded. Next I will be starting the covering on the fuselage.

Ram-bro Based of the length of the fuselage the wing needs to be 80.5"
Got more work done on the fuselage. The plan is to finish the fuselage, then start on the wing.
1) Covering on the bottom of the fuselage is finished in skyblue.
2) Cover on fuselage completed with olive drab, dove gray, and black. Decals are from Major Decals.
3) Elevators are covered in Cub yellow.
4) Rudder is covered in Cub yellow.
5) Elevators and rudder is taped in place.
