New P-38 or maybe a F-82
I'd like to take my gear out of my V1 KMP P-38 and put it into a new, better quality, plane. Any recommendations for a twin 60-75 size plane?

You KNOW what I'm gonna say
Find a VQ-38 and try that.
A much more pleasant experience all around than the KMP.
Same powerplant requirements.

RE: New P-38 or maybe a F-82
I have to say up front that I had one of the very first of the first versions and they have been improved since mine.
The retracts were totally useless. The were very corroded and could not be use in any way what so ever. I sent the original set back to Andrew and he replaced them with new ones that were semiuseable. I rebuilt the mains and tossed the nose one in the garbage, and used a Spring-air. Even at that the wire is very soft and I have to rebend them almost every flight no matter the landing AND i know not to fly off grass as the gear and the frame could not stand a grass landing. The gear is the single most problem with my P-38.
The stab attachment is not molded in with the correct incidence. About 3/8" of down thrust is needed for level flight. This was fixed on the V2.
The seams of the fiberglass had to be redone, the split and had gaps and areas were the seams were not even bonded.
Almost all the hardware including tanks and motor mounts had to be tossed. Junk, worse than typical Chinese stuff.
That's the complaints and to be fair I have to tell you the good stuff too.
THE PLANE FLIES FANTASTIC, even with the odd down trim the plane tracks super and handles great. On the box it says two .46 2 strokes and two .75 2 strokes really makes it go.
Cheap. Mine, the first of the V1's was under $600 with retracts. Notice I didn't say a good value because with all the problems It took me 6 months to put this "ARF" together and I have quite a few scratch and kit builds under my belt. At times I thought it would have been easier to build a short kit.
I've flown it occasionally (it has maybe 20-25 flights on it) on war bird days and stuff and I have two really good, first flip reliable motors. I would really like to have a better quality bird to transfer it in and the smash the plane over a trash can... The problem is there are only a few P-38's of this size and no F-82's that I know of. Kit or ARF.

Not interested in a Bronco though... F-82 would be preferable, P-38 is a close second, then after that maybe a Tigercat but that's my short list.
Thanks Carlos.

How 'bout a nice VQ or ASM P-61?
Impressive plane in the air, but less pucker factor than a 38 (esp. a KMP).
Here's both versions flying at the same time at our meet in 2007. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpnRaMoRFWA My VQ's got .91 2S's, his ASM's got .70 FS's
Or something completely different: that ARF DeHav Comet that came out a few years ago?....be about right for your engines.
