Default Any decent 80"-100" ** P-38 ** in 2013?

Just looking well down the line for a future project. Was wondering if there is a kit for a P-38 in the 80 - 100" wing span size that is considered current and well designed (prefer closer to 100"). I am aware of the Yellow AC P-38. There is also some level of copyright chasing from lawyers that have ruined Lockheed model aircraft choices lately since 5 years ago or so that I am aware of...

What are you P-38 builders and flyers working on and flying these days? How does your P-38 of choice rank? Thanks in advance.

I think I read here somewhere that ESM is working on a new P-38. Don't think it will be this year. It usually takes them about 2 years from announcement to delivery. I think it may have been someone from Troy Built Models that indicating ESM was working on a P-38.

Sure would be a nice addition to their warbird line. I also heard that reps from ESM will be at Toledo this year. That should be interesting...I know I have a lot of questions for them.

Eddie, now I remember...it was Troy Built. They did a survey on here on what planes ESM should build next and they removed the P-38 from the list because they are working on a P-38. I think it is in the 96" wingspan size. That should be fun and may be my next plane.

You may still be able to find a YQ models P38 out there somewhere. A great model complete with reliable working fowler flaps. Mine flies well with a pair of OS 70 surpass engines {at sea level}

Thanks guys. I like the ESM F-7F but the P-38 has always been sweet heart of an plane in my opinion. I love multi-engine models and fighters - what a combination of the two with the P-38. Plus I just started reading Robin Olds' memoirs ""Fighter Pilot" and enjoyed reading about his experiences in the P-38. Got me thinking I needed to finally build a big one. I'll be watching and waiting for the TBM news and announcements.

Just did some trolling and found this news letter! It looks like it will be an ESM P-38, 93" wing.

No other detailed info yet, but hopefully soon.

Oh heck no! I love jets. I also like a nice warbird too. And for sure, I love "multi-engine" airplanes

I do have to admit I haven't built anything turbine powered in a while. EDF's, yes, I've built many in the last couple years. But I'm still down to just 1 turbine jet since I sold my R54 - I have my A-4 still and I really like it. I feel like I can't fly my turbine all the time though - when it gets real dry in the summer I get chicken and super selective on when I fly.

You flying a bunch in Carson now? I've got a new warbird to maiden.

I went to CC yesterday in fact. Played hookey from work in the morning! Hey, I got a project for you. I have two brand new never used wings off of a 28% Extra 260 and two 48 cc engines. Made the template for a center section rib, but never got any further. (I hate work). Was thinking of a suto P-38 or a C-119. Maybe not even have a center pod. Just something different to try. Interested? Also, the CC airport is having an open house in June. We are looking for demo pilots to wow the crowd. This year, due to budget cuts, the military says they will not be participating. The airport asked us to fill in the time slots. Are you interested in that as well?
