TRYING AGAIN ---- I had to figure how to get a Smoke oil supply in my CAT without moving anything around. I had a Void in the nose section that would hold a 16oz. tank, but I wanted more oil. I found a 22oz. plastic bottle "Dog Shampoo" --- My Dog --- It slid in with no space to spare. I added cross braces to hold the bottle over the nose gear. The plumbing of the tank is not Normal due to the forward position. I am using "Robart Smoke Oil" Got a 5 Gal. can. The question about CG -- Mine is around 4.5 to 5.0 inches from the leading edge measured at the center of the wing joining section. I'll send this POST and hope to add more photos if it doesn't LOCK-UP again. Col. Chuck Winter

The tubing then leads to a "T" that takes the oil to the 2 mufflers. The Wooden Dowel flow metering unit is a simple design by a Cat owner on this site. The tubing I am using is "Sullivan 207" Smoke Oil tubing, very flexible and easy to use. Feel free to ask questions or need more pictures. Col. Chuck Winter

I got a second hand esm Tigercat with two Saito 170s

Just installed www.ch-ignitions.com ignition system and did the timing procedures.

Hi WB, I have had these Gasoline Quick Disconnects for over 10 years. I used them when I was racing Giant Scale. I don't know who made them or where I got them. The THREADS on the one side is for a LOCK NUT if your want to fasten the unit permanently. It only take 1 revolution (TURN) to lock in place. They are VERY easy to use and don't require a TIGHT fit. They are easy to ENGAGE and DISENGAGE. Col. Hi Guys,

I finally got to maiden my TC Sunday. The results were less than spectacular. It tip stalled just as I crossed the apron for the first landing. I'm no stranger to heavy warbirds, but this one flew like a brick. Take-off weight was right at 32lbs. with two DLE-35's, Sierra gear and brakes. From the time I left the ground, I never really felt in control of it, especially on the cross-wind legs. I even told my spotter at one point that I didn't have control of it. The wing is damaged, but repairable. The fuse is damaged, but repairable. The nose gear looks like a pretzel, but didn't bust out the wood mounts (Hysol at its best). The port main is perfect. The starboard main strut is a little bent, but may be straightened; if not, an easy replacement part from Darrel. I'm getting out of the Tigercat business. If anyone is interested in any of these parts or the twin-sync, let me know by PM. We can work out one heck of a deal.

Frisc that really sucks. i have seen these fly and seem to fly well. maybe it was tail heavy or coming in to slow?

35's seems like a lot of motor. Nick did you have to add any weight to balance?

Even with the big motors, I still had to add a pound to the nose. I think the DLE-20's would be a better choice for someone. Don't put the elevator servos in the stabs. Ditch the aluminum wing tubes for carbon fiber. Not sure what the Sierra gear weighs, but it ain't light weigh (and shouldn't be!). I obviously got it too slow on landing, but it didn't look slow at all. At 32 lbs, that 75 oz per sq ft of wing. Just moving that one-piece wing with both engines around the shop, the sheer weight of it scared me. I built a Meister P-47 last year that weighed 52lbs, but with that big wing, it flew like a trainer. Oh well......NEXT!!

I was going to put DLE 35's in mine also but going with VVRC 40CC twins now. Yes move the elevator and rudder servos up front. Where can you but a carbon tube for this?

Nothing worse than loosing one on the maiden. Maybe post pictures of what you want to sell.

Just as an FYI, I still haven't flown mine (going to finish this winter) but the center section on mine was a little messed up. Long story short, the wing tube socket in the center wing wasn't put in right, and I had gaps between outer wings and nacelles. With TB's great product support and spare parts, or lack there of, I set out to make what I have work.

I noticed that with LE and TE of both center and outer wings lined up with the LE and TE of the nacelle, the left wing panel had a lot more incidence than the right. I'm not sure I would have caught it if I hadn't been reworking the wing.

I had the same problem with the center section. I bitc$ed for two months before they decided to send a new one. As I was telling one of the other TC guys, I'd like to find someone local who can actually put their hands on the parts to see exactly what they are getting. Don't want to mislead anyone. Once I disassemble it, I'll post some pics.

Air, I just googled carbon fiber tubing. Many places have it. Might save another 1/2 pound or so.

I am going to start this buld in the Fall, I have already purchased 1 FA-200R3 amd looking for another, but I ee you have yours with a pair of 170's, as they are of the same sixe of the 200's. how do the 170 fit to the cowl, have you maiden her yet?

I have one of these that I put together 2 years ago. I used DLE 20's and have since removed them and am in the process of installing Zenoah G-26's. The DLE's flew the plane nicely, fast enough to be fun. I had trouble out of the box getting the left one (DLE) to run. Sent it back to Tower and they sent me a new one, no explanation why it wouldn't run. It ran good out of the box and I flew it in another plane to break it in. Then I installed it in the Tigercat and set it to run with the other engine, slow and high throttle. Flew plane 2 or 3 times. Next flight, I started both engines and let them warm up. throttled up to check high end and watched the left prop come flying off. What the ___! Engine seized up solid. Another 30 seconds later I would have been lifting off and watched it destroy itself. Sent that engine back to Tower and they sent me another new one. No explanation on this one either.That one went on E-Bay as did the right engine. I used quality oil and Non-ethanol fuel. No more DLE's for me. In case any ones thinking of these engines, and I know there are enough of these engines out there that run, I wouldn't risk a twin again with one. My 2cents.

I had a early KMP version full composite and spent a lot hours to work on it like everyone else special on the wing section, i had to cut the tube and low it down 1/8 inch to flush with the wing also reinforced the middle wing per Col. Chuck instruction and made the wing in 3 pieces for easy transport. After 3 years 95% completed the bird still seat in my living room due to my fly style change to scale and 3D. If anyone looking for one let me know, this bird powered with 2 new Zenoa 26cc and MG servos for the wing. Could someone please confirm the c of g position for the Tigercat, at what point on the wing it's measured and if it's measured with gear up or down?

Troy built models carries the set of wheels from the ESM Tigercat and they are very scale.
