1/4 Scale Bensen Type Gyrocopter
I have begun to scratch build a Bensen Type Gyrocopter. I intend to power it with nitro and if it is successful I may build a second and power with electrics. I am hand cutting and filing parts from 1/2" Aluminum tube and 1/2" by 1/2" angle aluminum that has been cut to 1/4" by 1/4". It will not be exactly 1/4 scale in all respects but good enough to suit me. Maybe this build project will encourage other Gyro wanna-be's to begin a similar build. I am fortunate to have a full scale Bensen Type Gyrocopter in my garage to get the approximate dimensions from and that helps. The photo with the "diamond" assembly is going to be a section that will be installed on the mast. It will allow the engine to be mounted in between the open area of the diamond to help balance the Gyro without adding any unnecessary weight on the completed aircraft.

I have wanted to do a build of the Bensen type for a long time and just decided to get going. You all can see by the numbers on the left that I am not a forum "talker" but I do look and listen.
Thanks for the interest guys and I will keep you posted as I build.

RE: 1/4 Scale Bensen Type Gyrocopter
Thanks for the moral support! I have been working on the engine mount and made a small bit of progress. It is going to be a complicated set up due to the engine facing rearward and with the engine having a different exhaust setup and pull start mounted on the rear (which will be toward the front)
I have got about ten irons in a two iron fire and need to throttle back on some of the other things. You post is pointing me back.... I Thank You and will put more pictures in soon.

RE: 1/4 Scale Bensen Type Gyrocopter
I am fortunate enough to have a full size (man carrying) Gyrocopter sitting in my garage for reference. I have been sidetracked quie a bit since I began this build, hopefully the colder weather will force me to do more indoor projects such as this one.
