Hi Flyinghunster,

I'm just on the West side of the Blue Ridge traveling via I-64 our club is The Expoland R/C Club located just off I-64 at exit 91 (Fishersville). We are between Staunton and Waynesboro. I 'm the only one in my club doing skydiving.
Do you attend the Giant Scale event in Harrisonburg VA at the "Valley R/C Flying Club" the date this year is June 17-19 2005. I hope to do a demo If I get a plane ready by then (my drop plane sorta became a two piece fuselage).
If we get enough interested people we could get a rally together in the area.

Hi Lundy,

Yes, you would be welcome to join one of our rally's. The one at the AMA field will be September, 17-18 2005. Here is a link with directions to the site http://www.modelaircraft.org/
Have you traveled to the U.S.A. for modeling activities before.
I only ask because we fly on the 72 Mhz band, and if i'm not mistaken you fly on the 35Mhz band.
I also don't know exactly what would be required for you to fly at the AMA facility.
Maybe someone else on the forum can help with what would be required to fly here.

As far as the rally goes the rules are pretty simple.
1.) Have fun
2.) 5 points for visible free fall
3.) 10 points 360 deg. left turn
4.) 10 points 360 deg. right turn
5.) landing score depending on where you land in the circle
We have been measuring the landing from where the jumper stops after hitting the ground, as opposed the the initial touch down, for the sake of argument.

As Paul mentioned, for our scoring system more is better.

We don't fly a certain number of rounds, you get in as many drops in as you can during the contest time and take the the sum of your three best for your final score.

You are also allowed more than one jumper, but, you have to keep the scores for each jumper separated.

This is how it has been done in the past and the guys that run the rally may do it different this year.

Did I mention the main thing we do is have fun.

Hi Gary V. !

I was glad to hear from you !
A short reply
Yes i was in the USA before tree times a guided tour and one time with a backpack (rucksack )
from New York to San Francisco ( 28 years a go )
But i never was there for modell activities , this will be the first time.
We are flying at 35 mhz and 40 mhz,we know the 72 mhz story for flying in the USA no problem so far.
We where on a transmitter/receiver hunting 72mhz last weekend on a rc flee market and yes !
that problem is solved . If all our problems get solved that easy like this ,we can go ahead in September.
As far as "THE RULES" they are almost the same as ours ,and have "FUN" is the major goal,
Thanks for your reply !
Are you coming to Muncie yourself, if so see you there in September.

LUNDY

Lundy,

I have made all of the previous Muncie rallys, and unless something unexpected comes up I'll be there. Hope you can make it.

I have 8 Robbie Charlys I have collected over the last few years. The first one bought from a Hobby Shop about 8 yrs ago was $160 new in the box. I have since bought them from the internet, swap shops and from individuals like yourself for prices varying from $75 (used) to $200 (new in the box.) Even went to $250 (out of my mind) when Robbie discontinued making them a few years back. The best deal was when a friend, who bought Mikes from Germany, gave me one as he was tired of fooling with the smaller, less sofisticated jumper. Once you start using Lincolns, it's hard to go back to Chevys!!! Now there are about a half dozen folks in the States making quality Skydivers for a reasonable price so the competition will dictate the price you get. I would put it on RC Universe with the price established at what you think will get your money back. If it's used or damaged in any way, it will not sell for more than $100. Up to $150 if used but in perfect condicition. Sometimes the demand will drive the price up so all you can do is post it a see what happens. All this jibberish probably don't help much!!!
Should have mentioned that all Charlys were acquired, without electronics, before any were being manufactured in the US. Now there are a number of US sources with better Skydivers.

Wil:
I am sending in my Rally entry form today. Looking forward to the Rally and will probably also go to Muncie in Sept. Looks like there will be a crowd at both. It's a long drive but well worth it!!
Anyone interested in a new in box Robbe Charly, send me an email and I will put you in touch with the seller

It was great! The 83 temp & 5mph wind was hard to take but I managed. Flew the Tiger Stick 4 times practicing for the next contest. Tried to fly like the pros and wiped out the gear. Had plastic bolts holding them on so no damage was done---other than pride!! Had a good time

Hi All,

Don't know if this is the right place, but I'd just like to mention that I ordered the video and template package from C.R. Fowler at R/C Skydive USA. I am impressed with their service! Very quick replies, very friendly too, and after paying by PayPal, very quick shipping!
If all companies worked like this, the word ''complaint'' wouldn't exist!
Excellent!

I've been working on my own skydiver bodies. The littl'un (on left) is 5" and meant for small serovs, like HS-85mg's. She was looking too small for a standard chute so I've started on a 6" (on right), which will comfortably handle 2 standard size servos in the chest, "ahem-ahem". Anime-babe heads will top them off.

They're just roughs in foam, to be made of kevlar in the lost-foam method. If they work out I'll make high quality masters from clay and cast a few bodies for sale later.

How do you like them so far??
