Default RE: Making a Skydiver and Chute

Many people (including myself) recommend the video (ntsb) by C. R. Fowler which shows the chute making process from cutting to rigging, and updates for the RCM diver. http://www.rcskydiveusa.com/ has the details, he ships anywhere. Wil Jones of www.rcdropzone.com has a chute plan he can send via email, contact him for details.

I would recommend buying your first chute, the ones from www.rcskydiving.com come ready to attach right out of the box. Once you have that, you can decide for yourself whether it's worth the effort to replicate your own. Zero-porosity ripstop is slick and requires careful handling so take that into account.

I am an accomplished seamster, hoping to construct my own high-performance chutes soon. I also recognize my own inability to finish anything in a timely fashion, so I bought one for now.

If you're any good at building plywood boxes, your first jumper is just a few hours from done.
