Very cool! What size engines does it use? I'm assuming 3 channels. Throttle, elevator, rudder.

(might be 6/7 though, hard to tell if the motors rotate or not, if they do it isn't much, the fuel line wouldn't have a very long life!)

RE: Our new 40 foot blimp test flight pics
This blimp can handle winds up to 20 mph easy.
We modify a JR 8103 8 channel radio to 14 channels. We use 12 channels to operate the blimp. Here are the functions
-Elevator
-Aileron
-Throttle
-Motor tilt (flap channel with over 90 deg. up and 45 deg. down)
-Rt motor start
-Rt motor choke
-Rt motor kill
-Lt motor start
-Lt motor choke
-Lt motor kill
-Master kill
-Internal bag lights (gear channel)
Here is a pic of the blimp in a hover. The motors are at 90 deg.

On this blimp we installed Zenoha G-62 engines with custom built 6 bladed 14 X10 props, but we are building another one with GT-80s.

Have you ever tried to choke and start 2 motors at the same time. You have to have seperate controls over both engines. Give it a shot and you will know what I am talking about.

Very awsome... Now you need a lighted sign on the side and start hanging over large events. Put the goodyear blimp a run for the money. haha!!

We are working on a marque light system, and hope to have it done by mid summer. The radio modifications are not easy and very from transmitter to transmitter. We are designing our own system that will work in the 900 MHz range and will contain a transceiver that will monitor and change the frequency channel to the strongest channel.

Oh wow - that's awesome. How big is the box that it was shipped in? How much did they pay for it and what are the Japanese going to use it for?

They are going to use the blimp to test search and rescue operations. They have very bad earth quakes over there. They paid around $50,000 for a complete system.
