RE: Which hydroboat / plane
Agreed, full-sized storm launcher ("S/L") is better, for the size than the XPV... i'm assuming that's the one you're comparing it to, just because it has an actual flight surface, an elevator in the back. XPV and S/L mini both just use differences in the engine/prop speeds to control the plane.
HINT!!!
check out the bargain bins at your local walmarts and TRUs because people will return them because they didn't know you had to buy a special battery...
HINT 2!!!
don't forget to buy the special battery... you can usually buy it at the store where you got the storm launcher... otherwise, online is fine too... regular price for S/L full sized batt is $24.99 at wally-world.
Take it slow and get a BIG field to practice in until you're better.... or you'll end up with a pile of pretty styrofoam, decals, and electronics.

i have the xpv too, i havent used it yet but it doesnt go in water, it was wheels on the bottome to use on the ground, the storm launcher uses a teflon style skidplate to drive on.

well, it CAN... just like the XPV CAN go on water... it just has trouble after that.
the mini doesn't have enough thrust to counter-act the surface tension... maybe if you rubbe bacon-grease along the bottom...
