Default New and Need an RC electric engine for a big project!

Hello!

I'm completely new here but i've got a unique project that i am working on and i need an engine! so i figured: why not ask the people who live for this stuff? i have never worked with RC cars or anything (besides the little toys i got as a kid, and i'm sure those don't count) but i have a big project that i would like to complete for Comicon '09 and i'm not sure what to look for [X(]

I need an engine that meets these requirements:

Remote-controlled (preferably a dual-handed one that handles speed/foreward/backward on one unit and turn direction on another, but whatever works best i'll just manage with)
Electric (prefferably: because Gas will be an issue since the vehicle will most-likely be indoors)
Able to pull a weight of up to 300 pounds (225lbs is probably the low limit)
able to reach speeds of up to 15mph (less is ok but hoping for at least about walking-speed)

i would also like information on setting up a frame for a vehicle, as well as how to make things like the wheels work, i can hand-steer the project, but if i can figure out how to remote-control steer it too that would be great.

i wish i could give you more information on the project but i really don't want anyone else doing it first. i do know that i will probably need a wheel-base that is split between two sections. as an example, a set of wheels on one side, and a set of wheels on the other, with nothing hindering the middle between them, but both having steering-capabilities. tho, in this case would it be better to go with a 2wd or 4wd? and if 2wd; would it be better to use the front since the split-wheel-base will be for the back wheels of the vehicle?

also i want to know if it is possible to use a pre-built children's ride-around like maybe the dodge-viper ride-on toy for kids? it says it is a 12V but to be honest, i don't really know what that means. plus it is not R/C so i would need to be able to mod it, and i'm not sure how to do that. [:'(]

don't have much skill in electronic stuff or engineering so layman's terms would be appreciated, and pictures too!, and i really can't afford to just take it to a R/C specialist to have them mod what i need. so at least hoping for the specs on an engine that will work with all this and seeing if i can afford it

thanks and i really hope you guys can help me with this!

Sounds more like a fighting robot type thingy. I would suggest looking them up and see what you can find out. They usually handle heavy duty stuff like that. If i'm wrong please give alittle more info as it's kind of hard to picture what your goal is. Just trying to help.
