Default RE: Great planes VFO (PBF kinda thing)

Just finished my VFO and setting it up on the Spectrum DX7 with the AR7000 RCVR. All seems to function like it is supposed to...It is far too windy for the maiden flight "Hover" test in the living room seem OK!

RCVR Connections

Throttle to Throttle
Aileron to left control surface (looking from rear)
Elevator to right control surface (looking from rear)
Rudder to Top control surface (looking from rear)
Aux 2 to bottom control surface (looking from rear)

Transmitter Setup

Elevon On
Reversing: Aileron, Elevator, Aux2 are reversed All others Normal

All Travel Adjust to 100%

Elev to Flap Mix OFF
Aileron to Rudder Mix OFF

Differential FLAPERON Norm 0%

Program Mix1

Aileron to Elevator ON Both Rates +100%
SW ON
Offset 0

Program Mix2

Elevator to Aileron ON Both Rates -100%
SW ON
Offset 0

Program Mix3

Aileron to Rudder OFF both Rates -100%
SW Gear
Offset 0

Program Mix4
Aileron to Aux2 OFF both Rates to +100%
SW Gear
Offset 0

Mix 5 INH
Mix 6 INH

I set my Dual Rates up to be controlled by a single switch (elevator switch) and on the VFO they are all set:
low rates +35% Expo and 45% D/R
high rates 65% Expo and 80% D/R

So far this seems to be a good setup for the DX7...will report again once I get some calm conditions!

Why did you decide to do flaperon and then mix elevator to aileron and aileron to elevator?

Why didn't you use elevon wing set-up already programmed in your DX7?

Here is the way I did it on my friends DX7. I can't give you the numbers because I don't have the radio in front of me. My friend has it at his house 150+ miles away. All mixes are active all the time, and the flying surfaces react the way they are supposed to.

Rafeal,

I initially attempted the set up you suggest but did not get the results I was expecting...most likely a "brain cramp" on my part. What you suggest makes excellent sense and since the Wind is still roaring here I'll go back and try that.

Hi Guys,

Just assembling my VFO now, came here looking for radio setup help.
I have a 10c, I will try biggbears set up for the 9c it should work the same.

You would think Great Planes would atleast give you a set up configuration for a Futaba radio, heck maybe they can't do it either.

Hi to all
Just like meny athers I am having Transmitter programing problems with my VFO Pogo.
I have gone throw all the post's in this forum. If someone out there can help me to get my programing setup that would be grate.
Here is my setup at this point.
Transmitter: JR XP6102
Ailerons: all 4 move correctly. (with aileron stick)
Elevator: lift and right move coretly. (with elevator stick)
Rudder: top and bottom move in opesit directions. (with rudder stike) If I revers ether of the servos to get the proper rudder movment (with the rudder stike) then when the (aileron stike) is moved (top and bottom) move like rudders.

My Transmitter setup.
1. Elevon on
2. Mix1 master aileron / Slave rudder, offset 0, mix percentages 100%
3. Mix 2 master rudder / slave fla (aux1 channel 6), offset 0, mix percentages 100%
4. Mix 3 master aileron / slave fla (aux1 channel 6), offset 0, mix percentages 100%

Receiver setup.
Channels
1 throttle
2 lift aileron
3 right aileron
4 top rudder
5 not used
6 bottom rudder
